Warmoth Gecko owner's club

woohooo just got a call from warmoth my gecko is shipping today, I have all the other non warmoth parts all siting here waiting, im looking at my zeebrewood veneers now trying to figure how I want to layout the top on my headstock, ill probably use some to cover the rear cavity as well 001.JPG

I would have liked a little more random pattern in the zebrawood top but once I hit it with some stain I think ill be pretty happy with it the neck is amazing and I am liking the asymmetric shape, I cant wait to get this thing togeather and play it I just need to drill some controle holes and glue down the headstock veneer and I can get to staining and spraying this baby

Very nice. I am glad to see both of these basses in good hands. How are the Villex pickups working out for you in the fretless Gecko?

I really like the villex pups- they are slaying the Delanos at the moment (probably due to being closer to the strings). Very big and soulful sound. I may wind up swapping necks and seeing what sound of contemporary r&b sounds I can conjure with the maple neck on the mahogany/koa body.

Although I do wish for wider string spacing- I am getting adept with the 16.5 mm setup on both axes (especially for fingerstyle funk and chords). Tighter spacing also keeps me from getting into kung-fu slap when it is not appropriate.

Will probably scheme on a WIDE five next- I'm thinking something with a medium/dark tone and MM pup in the mid position and "big single" or something of that ilk at the bridge.

Unfortunately my Gecko plans did not work out. I ended up having to get a G5 body and neck. Could pass on the price 135 for a mint body and 250 for an upgraded neck with graphite rods etc. Wanted the Gecko but this is a nice start.

Body - Solid Ash
Neck - Solid Birds eye maple
Pick ups - Custom RJ Neos Zebrawood with Purple heart pickup rings
Pre - GlockenKlang
Knobs - Custom Zebrawood/Purple heart
Tuners - Custom Zebrawood caps

Very, very nice! I think there's probably a Gecko in your future at some point. You'd better hang on to your number (#26) for now. Plus, with the experience of building this G5, you'll have a better idea of what you want in your Gecko. :)

Note: I don't believe in recycling numbers or de-listing people. This is an open club.

Yep, that is exactly what the Villex pickups do well. They lock into the fundamentals like few other passive pickups can do. The Delano soapbars are fine pickups as well. Enjoy! And definitely share your findings with the neck swap idea!
