warmoth short scale bass..?

my concern was due the the smaller body the 32" may not balance as well as the 30" since they are using the same body, but it sounds like the neck changes will help that. is anything replacing the reinforcing rods?

The heel on the 32" and 30" necks is slightly narrower than a 34" scale neck. It would not be compatible with a full sized body, nor would it intonate correctly.

And the necks are simply sans steel rods. No graphite or anything else replacing them. Since the necks are shorter, there's less need for any additional reinforcement or mass.

So the 32" has one more fret. Color me interested on these, the smaller body is a big bonus to me.

When the SX 3/4 necks went on sale at Rondo this past weekend, I was all set to buy two SS Jazzes from them and put the old headstock necks on them. However, I hesitated, and the opportunity is gone.

Actually, it was a blessing. I had not heard that Warmoth was offering 30-32" parts. I just happened upon this thread today for the first time.

I would rather drop $400-500 on parts to build up a nice quality SS bass from Warmoth than nearly the same amount on three SX shorts. This is great. It's nice to have options. I have several Warmoth basses and sets of parts, and will definitely consider going this route instead of SX.

I have an SX SS LTD Jazz. I finally got the bridge set up right, intonated, action set, and so on. Man, I love the sound and playability. SS works great for my hand size. I can only imagine what a Warmoth SS will look, feel, play, and sound like. Whee! This is going to be a fun summer.

Hi Eddie,

Never said there was no difference. There is, but not significant. I took a quick comparison shot to give you a better idea. The butt is a little longer and the lower contour comes in a little tighter on the Dinky.
