Warning- Bass Southwest

Hate to say it, but since I'll never pay more than a couple Gs for a bass... I've never heard of Ed Roman. Only high end bass shop I've ever heard of was Planet Bass... and I'd agreed with my business manager (wife) that I'd resist the temptation of ever walking in there.
Ed died a few years ago. He had a store in Las Vegas. Had a very bad reputation, you can probably still find plenty of horror stories on the internet. The one that stands out to me was a guy who traded his PRS guitar for a Gibson Les Paul from Ed. The customer subsequently discovered it was a non-Gibson body with a broken Gibson headstock attached to it.

So, if you happen to be in Rodondo Beach, CA would you make it a point to not go into Bass Southwest? What if they had a bass you really wanted right there in stock and at a great price? Would you NOT go in there and buy it? Again, three sides to every story: yours, mine and the truth.
I travel for work...and I would not.

This is nothing but false and misleading information buyer this buyer 100% false and misleading. I don't use TB much but was made aware of this by another TB user. Although this was posted in 2005 Im now seeing this and will not lower my standards to trash this buyer. I can say that I have sold basses world wide and never had any issues. This buyer unfortunately had buyers Remorse after buying a hand build boutique bass. If any one has any further questions feel free to email me at [email protected] Thanks to all of you
I missed the spamming but this post offers only a generic defense instead of addressing the buyer's specific issue. Not very reassuring.

A generic defense that includes at least one outright lie because I can personally guarantee that he’s had at least one issue with a bass he’s sold and it hasn’t been long enough ago for him to forget, either. My issues with him started about 4 months ago

Also, the fact that he thinks the complaint is from 2005 and writes it off as someone with buyer’s remorse means he hasn’t read what the actual complaint is but wants to deny it anyway isn’t good.

I really don't see the need for this.

Not defending the store or anything like that, but is that what you do in a daily basis?

Do you know if this person had access to proper education? A person can't have a business unless they can spell?

One thing is judging people's actions, other completely different is to mock someone for shallow reasons.

No, that's not the point.

Someone selling multi THOUSAND dollar instruments should be able to communicate on a basic level that doesn't require a decoder to figure out what they are saying.

How is throwing more negativity into this situation going to help?

It's a warning to not send multiple thousands of dollars to someone who is semi-literate.

It usually doesn't end well when you try to express your problems with a purchase if the person you are communicating with can't say something simple like "thank you for understanding" and instead says "thank for you understanding."

Seeing that alot of people don't see the danger in doing something like that, the fact that I've drawn some attention to it I deem quite helpful.

Hi. I'm not here to jump on you about this. Instead, here is an opportunity for you to set the record straight, but you'll need to do it with facts that you can post details about, so that the TB populace can make a fair assessment. We've heard the buyer's side, so how about your side in this very specific matter?

Item #1 to respond to: Surine, the maker of the bass, told the buyer that you, personally (the person otherwise doing business as Bass Southwest) purchased the bass in question for yourself, and are thus the original owner and sole beneficiary of the bass's warranty. Once you sold it out of your possession, whether as a personal sale or as a Bass Southwest sale, the warranty did not transfer as the bass was then considered by its maker to be a resold, used instrument.

- What is correct or incorrect about the above item?

Item #2 to respond to: The end buyer simply states that there was a finish problem upon receipt, that does not appear in the photos posted to the advertisement from which he made his purchase decision.

- Do you have original photos of the part of the bass in question? Is there anything that could have happened to the bass to support either (or both) claims, that the bass left BSW undamaged and/or arrived at the buyer damaged?

There is probably more nuance in the OP that I've forgotten, but these are the two main points that can be clarified and declared one way or another. I would assume that you would want to preserve good faith and a reputation, so have a conversation about it. Every angry buyer has the capacity to unleash strings of vulgarities, sure, but that doesn't mean they're wrong. Set everyone straight, if you can.
