I really think you have to let this one go. I honestly believe that this guy will never deliver this instrument. You say that he's selling elsewhere? He's clearly chasing cash and there's no cash in this bass for him. The best thing would be to move on.

Omg, I can't believe THIS is STILL ongoing. This was 1 of the 1st posts on TB ,i ever read, and it was ancient then.

I think he’s saying what he thinks you want to hear.
Probably not even a pile of wood left at this point. The wood you have pictures of might not have ever existed, and if it did, it’s likely been used or sold.
Based on what you have posted so far, I’d guess less than a 3% chance. The most surprising thing about your post is that you asked this question with what you know about this individual.

This Letts guy cannot be shamed. If he were going to do the right thing, he would have done it. Giving him any further benefit of a doubt is frankly foolish of you. He knows that you are not a threat. You are to him like a gnat that gets in his face from time to time. He swats you away with a text or something and goes about his day until you show up again. And you still expect he might actually build a bass guitar just for you.
You can't embarrass people who lack a moral compass into doing the right thing.
This saga still continues and now 2 months later I am now 73...lol
