Warrior Club Part 2

Similar issue in that I purchased a used Warrior and reached out to them with general info about the bass, but so far no response

Beautiful Roscoe's in your avatar pic! My favorite two brands, Roscoe and Warrior. :)
Unfortunately, it seems to be a trend that high end builders have less time to provide customer support to owners in the area of information concerning specific instruments that players purchase on the used market. IMO it has to do with overhead costs. It's difficult enough to employ quality luthiers to assist in building new instruments (which results in revenue) and they just sometimes don't have time to research and provide owners with historical info on their instruments. Fodera solved it by charging a fee (Certificate of Authenticity @ $75.00). You send in pics of the bass and the serial number of your instrument, and they provide all of the original build data in a nice packet (and signed by Joey and Vinny).
That said, I've had great results in contacting and talking to JD, Dran and Gabe. But I did visit the shop 1-1/2 ago and they provided business cards with personal cell numbers and emails. They don't always answer but they do eventually get back with me via a text or a call.

Thank you. I am down to one Roscoe - had three at one point - and am hunting down the buyer of my very first one, s/n 5959, hoping it can return home one day.

As for Warrior, I haven’t heard back yet but any idea what strings a 1998 Warrior Signature 5 would have come with? I need to get new strings and wanna try out the type that the bass came with originally. If anyone knows this, thanks, otherwise no worries.

Now days they come strung with Big Bottom nickel strings. They’re basically D’addario XL nickels (with super long scale E and B for stringing through the body.
I really like them and I get mine from Warrior. They give you a decent price break if you get 4 sets.

Several folks have asked for a few more details on Warriors new Bartolini Big Bottom Preamp. Here’s a diagram that JD and the guys just released.

I have a question: what is difference in sound from a Warrior that has soap bars pickups to the one that has the neck soap bars and J bridge pick up.

The Warrior with the Big Boy and X5 (J bridge) has bit more midrange bark than the one with the two soap bars. I typically blend my Warrior with the Big Boy and X5 a bit toward the bridge pickup. It really takes the bass to the top of the mix (rather than in the middle of the mix),
The Big Boy pickup is really warm sounding.
The two soap bars sound a bit more modern to my ears. I love those blended in the center but often blend a bit more of the bridge pickup (in the single coil mode) if I need a more cutting tone. Keep in mind though, my dual soap bar bass has the 2J Squared soap bars.

Gigged out with my new Walnut/Black Limba/Alder Warrior DM 5 today. I received it 4 months ago but had should surgery 2 days after it arrived (so this is my first gig since the surgery).
It sounded wonderful in the IEM's and house, Warm and thick in the mix with a wonderful high end. Such a nice even tone all the way up the finger board.
The live stream is ok. It doesn't reflect the clarity that I heard in the IEM's or house, but it'll give you an idea of the tone.

Here’s a link to just a couple of the tunes without the announcements and teaching …
