Warwick Fortress Footmen, unite!

I just purchased a 96 Fortress Masterman from the classifieds here and I love it! Super comfortable and easy to play. My question is, the bass came with the original Warwick gig bag and I'm less than impressed with the padding in the thing. I have no problem with gig bags in fact I think I'm developing a preference for them, but I was wondering does anyone make an aftermarket case that would fit this thing? I have a feeling with the long upper horn it would be difficult to get one to fit properly.

Played it at rehersal tonight. What a great sounding bass! Super comfortable to play. My guitar player commented that sometimes he can see my hands/fingers moving but it's mushy. Not tonight, said there was clear definition to every note.

I absoloutely Love this bass!

I just wanted to ask to the Fortress experts.

I have spotted a 94 Fortress that I would like to buy.
Very rare because it´s a lefty.

The cover that gives access to the electronics is bolted, it´s not one of the easy access ones.
All of the photos that I have seen in this thread show easy access covers, even in the early models.

What do you say?
Can it be a fake?

I don't know cause I'm new to this, but every Warwick I've seen has the easy access cover on it. I have seen alot of complaints about that cover, doesn't stay on right or breaks very easily or something, so I wouldn't be to surprised if someone threw the towel in and made a cover. Perhaps theirs broke and they couldn't track down a proper replacement for whatever reason. Anyway I kind of have a hard time thinking it would be a fake. The best thing to do would be to post a couple pics here if you can get them. In particular get a photo of the serial number on the back of the headstock.

Pics and serial number would be good. There were Fortress's in the RockBass line up, and still are, and I've seen the first lot of RB Fortress's with screw-in access covers and the newer ones look like they have the clip-on design. It might be a RockBass.

OK. After a month I'm finally getting around to posting this up here. (Sorry, been spending my time playing it instead!) I love it!

I bought that Fortress One '93 only 3 weeks ago. It is as if it was brand new. Isn't it lovely with those green fluo strings ? I used it last saturday night at a friend's wedding and wow, what a sound !

I really think I have many years of fun in front of me with that bass ...

Cheers !!
