Warwick Fortress Footmen, unite!

Unrelated note-- is it common belief that the Fortress was Warwicks take on the Rickenbacker body shape? Someone mentioned that to me, and it makes a lot of sense if you look at the shape profile.

Oh yeah, it's definitely a ric-inspired body shape, but still distinctively Warwick - sort of a Wickenbacker, if you will... thing is, it's one Warwick type that was never made as a neck-through. I do think you can still coax some ric-like tones out of the flashback, though (even if that shouldn't be possible as nothing about it besides the shape resembles a Ric)

I am pretty sure the ric sound in the flashback comes from the lipstick pickups. Like those in the ric they have a real "smile curve" where you get nice warm highs and lows and not much in the middle. I love my flashback. Played it recently through the new Apollo bass amp and it was just dope.

I just saw a red fortress P/J that looked just like uceroy's sell on ebay for $630 shipped - hope you didn't have to part with it!

Nah, mine's safe! ;)

@RCCollins, it's a 93'. I think it's a standard finish, I've seen more Ones like it.

I love the sound of both.
I'm just a beginner, but if my playing sound bad, it's definitely not due to the hardware ;D

Does anyone know what colors were offered on the Flashback? RCC? I'm guessing you'd know as well as anyone.

Burgundy red seems to be the most common. As Joe Nerve pointed out, honey and blue Flashbacks were made. I've also seen green ones.

According to Florin in the Warwick forums, only 50-60 Flashbacks were made with the 2Tek bridge, before it became unavailable. So I have a feeling this covers all the colors, excepting later custom basses (which would NOT have the 2Tek bridge)

Saw this, in bass boat blue sparkle...pardon my drool:

Don't know if that was an aftermarket, custom job, or what. Don't recall seeing sparkles as stock colors.

Wow...just...freakin'...wow...

Want.

It could be a one-off expo promo, but Florin ought to have clarified if that was the case, so I suspect it's a refinish. Either way, she's a beaut.
