Warwick Fortress Footmen, unite!

That Flashback looks RAD - and I agree, it can utterly nail a ric and many other classic tones. Far from a novelty, the Fortress Flashback is one well-designed bass! They really only discontinued it because the 2Tek bridges were no longer being produced.

My bday and lucky number...good timing :D
I LOVE my 1996 Flashback!
Only had it for a few months, But it has become one of my prized basses....The tone is fantastic...plays like a dream...and the 2tek bridge should be stock on every bass! If only they could make the darn bridge a bit lighter? LOL :)

This is still an awesome bass that I find very versatile, I can dial in the Ric tone that I like without playing one of the most uncomfortable basses ever made! I can say that with all honesty, I have 2 Rics. :hiding:

Thanks! She is a great bass and plays like a dream. I was worried about putting the Rotosound monel strings on it as I have always heard not to use flats on a string thru. It is fine and sounds freakin' awesome with those strings.

The Rotos really are the "cherry" on top, they really help get that vintage vibe. Not quite as good sounding as my '63 Jazz but it is still a great sounding bass.

Anyone other than me ever notice that these (or all the wenge necked warwicks) are the only basses who's necks never really need to be readjusted? I pretty much have to tweek all my bass setups every several months, or when the seasons change. These don't seem to budge.

Just puttin out a little love. :)

Huh? Flats on her eh?
I had those same strings on a G&L fretless I had briefly..
The strings we awesome.
I Just put Rotosound Stainless Roundwounds on my Flashback for now.
They give it a bit of a brighter funkier edge. Kinda works for me for the moment I guess :)

I would like to set a bass up to obtain that classic " Vintage Vibe"...for sure...Was kinda thinking about maybe one of those semi hollow bodied basses to set up for a cool vintage tone.

This is the only Wenge neck bass I have.
My other wick is not Wenge.

Yep, never even touched the TR on mine, same with my corvette which has an ovangkol neck. Just doesn't move!

I use flats on everything, I have been back on bass for a few years now and roundwounds kill my fingers. I can't develop calluses so I use flats. plus, I dig the tone of flats. we play a lot of country and classic southern style rock, I don't need a bright tone.

Funny thing - I had this for sale for a while but nobody bit. I'm glad it didn't sell, I love this bass.

I'd like to convert it to BEAD, but I don't know where to get a B-string sized "nut screw" that they use for these brass adjust-a-nuts.

Hey, if I'm not wrong, find a JAN I. Each nut screw went on indivually, so possibly they could all be moved either up or down, whichever you needed. The new JAN III are expensive (I paid around $70 I think from Hanser Music) but maybe you can find the JAN I cheap from someone upgrading.
