Update: I have ordered the $1 screws, and I have been insulted again on the W forum, by a moderator there. So F them, and F Warwick. If I don't totally fall in love with this bass once I've got it fixed, it will be up for sale. That would be a month from now, when I've gotten my overpriced screws.

I read the thread and yes he was kind of brash but then again
I see his point too ... at least he offered to help somewhat
I dont visit "Brand Name" forums too much (Musicman,Fender,Warwick etc,.) because honestly its almost too much fanboydoom for the likes of me at times
you say anything against the grain and the brand police shoot you down
Thats why I primarily stay on TB .. you get more help here than anywhere really

I dont know what to say.. its weird that regular screws wont work
remind me never to mess up my Corvette's screws

You must have been looking at some other post than the one I was referring to, because the one I meant had no point to it whatsoever, no point to "see".

First he condescendingly informed me that screws can be cut down to length, even though it had already been made clear that all the available screws are too short. Then he said it was impossible, not happening, no way jose, that these screws are so hard to get here--which is frankly calling me a liar. At no point did he offer any helpful suggestions.

The other guy that was a d-bag previously, first he posted a link to the Custom Shop with a "rolling eyes" icon, even though the CS doesn't have the screws; then he posted "**cough** local hardware stores **cough**" even though I had already said I checked with the local hardware stores; then he told me I should try using Google.

Both of these guys treated me like I'm an idiot or a baby, and they had no "point" to agree with.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there were also helpful replies--and to those, I responded with thanks and humble appreciation, with the idea that maybe the other d-bags would get the idea that actually I'm a mature and rational person. Didn't work!

if it's any compensation, these old wenge neck fortresses were made by a company that today's Warwick barely resembles.

Question for fellow F1 owners-- any of you string with flats? I have an every other week jam with friends where we play lots of classics that have sounded great on my Hohner J with flats-- Dylan, Dead, Stones, etc. I was thinking I would bring the F1 to the next jam for its light weight and balance but I am kinda feeling that putting flats on Wenge 'Wick is antithetical to having a Wenge Wick. Anyone have anything to say about the topic?

I use old formula fender 9050MLs on both my F1 p/j and my flashback. they sound plenty "modern" with the active MEC P/J, and totally vintage on the flashback (which also sounded great with thomastiks, and roto flats too - all in very different ways)

My opinion is: go for it - these are great, playable basses that are more than flexible enough to use with flats. I've played plenty of folk/psych type rock on the flashback in particular and the P/J covers my old r&b side (among others).

Interesting and helpful. I think I will give it a go. Enjoy flats and the versatility of a p/j with passive pickups. Why not?!

I'm sorry to see that you're not getting refunded. However, I followed that auction and had contact with the seller. The photos in the listing and the ones I got via email were all dark and blurry. Off-eBay sales are risky. These are warning signs I hope we all learn to avoid, and while I can't do anything to help besides recommend you go through your credit card company, we CAN publicize this story and discourage others from making risky online purchases

Joke apart, that is the only reason i went public with this.
Some may laugh at my experience but believe me i have made lots of transactions online and this is my first bad experience. You never think it could happen to you.

Well,it may happen, be very carefull. Paypall, as you can see, can also make mistakes.

At least i have a fortress on my hands, paid too much for the aesthetics but didn't loose my money, just paid too much.

I have a 1996 Flashback, great bass. I do not use it as much as I would like to since the majority of what I have been playing lately requires a 5 string.

This is still an awesome bass that I find very versatile, I can dial in the Ric tone that I like without playing one of the most uncomfortable basses ever made! I can say that with all honesty, I have 2 Rics.
