Warwick Fortress Footmen, unite!

Excellent demo video, Jaymi! I think you nailed it when you make the MusicMan comparison - the *Master*Man (clever reference, eh?) really is the slap machine of the Fortress family. This is the reason I don't own one! That said, you get some tasty darker tones out of it as well.

I'm still no fan of split tone controls on the twinjazz pickup, though - the coils are so close together that it doesn't seem to add much. A single 2-band EQ and a series/parallel switch would be more useful...

There's a 5 string fortress 1 on eBay and its my favorite green color but not sure if the buy it now is too high. Couple of serious dents on the front lower horn or I would probably do the buy it now. I'm going crazy staring at this auction... Any thoughts from you guys? Unfortunately I don't have a lot of disposable cash so I have to be serious about it.

Nothing wrong with a Rockbass - especially if you want a more "traditional" maple-neck sound! I've often eyeballed the P/J rockbass 4-strings as a possible F-word substitute...

It looks cool, and at least it doesn't say Rock Bass real big on the head stock(just a personal thing/opinion) I'm sure it sounds good, and especially thru that GK cab. Hope you're diggin it! ~Peace~

thank you kindly sir! it is pretty nice for a rb.

The new RBs are darn cool! I do wish they'd bring back a German-made Fortress, though...

back in 97 or 98, i went into a music store in okc and they had a lot of ww's. i picked up a fortress exactly like the one in your avatar and really liked it. problem was the $1400 price tag on it that made me put down. lol. i was a poor college student then and couldnt afford it. wait, i could've but i just bought a new spector a week before. that's why i couldnt buy it. lol. but yes, i wish germany would put out the fortress again. if there is enough demand, they might. keep the fingers crossed :)

that was about when they stopped making the Fortresses... $1400 would have been a good price for a brand new German Warwick - used they sell for as little as HALF that - some great deals to be had, especially if you dig Wenge necks.
