Hi all
Just wondering
My first instrument was cello
And then because i wanted to join the school band
I learned string bass
And then bass guitar looked cooler and funner
So i started electric bass as well
Now i play three instrument
And near future, i'll be adding guitar as well
Anyways
Was electric bass guitar your first instument?

Trombone in school. Then guitar to be cool. But in 9th grade a band of classmates played at a school rally (like they were Grand Funk Jr.) and I fell in love with that bass sound. So I bought a used Hagstrom. When my family moved that summer, I knew no one in my new town, so I just sat in my room and played it all summer long, and got halfways good.

Children's choir, then piano, then french horn (a little percussion and trumpet, too), adult choir, electric bass, double bass, piano (again), choir (again) violin, recorder, guitar, voice, (lead).

Still doing double bass, electric bass, recorder, voice, violin, and guitar.

I originally wanted to learn drums. But my teacher moved to another state and took the only kit I had access to with him. I was getting pretty good for a little kid too. I kind of wish I could have kept on with the drums. The only other instrument I had easy access to learn was the guitar. Not as fun as the drums, but it's what I had. Yet again, the teacher moved away. Then my uncle gave me an old bass he had. Finally I actually owned an instrument. I said screw a teacher and bought books. Now I can barley keep a beat on drums, and can't do a thing on those dental floss strings. But I am an above average bass player.

This is the order of my music learning history saxophone->clarinet->flute->drums->guitar->bass->tuba. Now, I went through all these instruments while I was in high school and college. But in the end, I fell in love with the bass. I would guess that my second choices would be bass clarinet, or tenor saxophone (I guess I just like the lower range).

To be honest... the best instrument I've ever been able to play was the clarinet... but I still think bass is way cooler (I still love to hear me some good clarinet playing though...) So I gotz some mad respect for Marcus Miller.

I began taking piano lessons when I was five. I switched over to guitar around the age of ten, and took lessons for a while. I began to play bass when I was sixteen because I thought that there was something underappreciated about it. I took bass lessons for a little while -- maybe about two months, but I'm pretty much self taught. Bass has been my main instrument for the past twenty years, although I own and play several other instruments including guitars, and several different types of percussion instruments. In addition to all of this, I learned how to use the computer as a musical instrument while receiving an Associates Degree in Music (although so much has changed since then).

Piano -- a disaster, then recorder, flute, and 'cello. My most "serious" instrument was the 'cello. Then I was tapped to play bass in the school jazz band, got an electric bass, spent a summer figuring it out, and re-invented myself as a bassist. Took up double bass when I started college.
