Has this been put up yet? 35 years ago...
Not..
On Jim' first chorus, he quotes a very old, rare standard tune called " JIM " ......Maybe only Mr. Fuqua and myownself would notice this. Maybe not.
Not.
Jim's musical breathing is breathtaking to me.
Marcus, some people think only horn players and singers breathe.
okay i havn't read all 15 pgs of this thread, but has anyone mentioned the arco solo red takes on stardust from Ben Webster's live at the renaissance? its pure soul. its the kind of thing, one has dreams about. i got the album burned from a friend and always marveled at the bass playing and only recently found out who it was. i can't put into words how it makes me feel. it transcends story telling into something purely experiential. its the kind of thing i remember when i think about all the time i seemingly waste playing music.
With apologies for possible redundancy: "Empathy" with Joe Beck at Bradley's; "Three for All" with Phil Woods and Tommy Flanagan; "Shining Hour" with Joe Puma and Hod O'Brien.
