Way huge Pork and Pickle

Sounds like a good idea but I have my doubts it would result in a better pedal. Here's why. I'm assuming the 2nd footswitch would simply serve the same function as the toggle between the volume and drive knobs. Both the the OD and fuzz circuits share the five controls on the face of the unit. This morning I opened mine up to get at the interior controls. My goal was to get a better volume balance between the OD and Fuzz. While in there I also adjusted the other OD controls. The adjustments improved the OD sound and eliminated the need to adjust the volume when switching from OD to Fuzz. But tweaking the tone and clean tone knobs to get a pleasing Fuzz was still necessary.
Maybe others will be able to find a sweat spot where the OD and Fuzz are right for their needs with just a flip of a switch. I however am leaning toward a dedicated fuzz and using the P&P just as an OD. Besides, I haven't owned a Big Muff since I was a teenager. I ain't getting any younger.
I understand your point and I think you're right. I didn't think about that, honestly.
However, with further experimentation I think it may be possible to find the sweet spot between the two. It depends on where the P&P is in the chain. I find the fuzz is best with no additional gain stages engaged (comp, clean boast, etc.). But when in OD mode if I use my Spark after the P&P set with just a bit of bass boast it makes it so both work well (for me) with minimal knob tweaking. I guess I would just really experiment with all the external and internal controls before I would pay for a mod.
A bass players version of the Camel Toe would be nice except it would take up a lot of space on the board.
Question about running Pork Loin / Pork&Pickle on 18v - are there any "long term" consequences from running it on higher voltage (from technical standpoint)?
I have Pork Loin for a year now and I noticed the problem with clipping very early, but only recently I discovered here that running it on 18v seems to solve that.
I run mine now on 18v, with "clean" pot about 10 o'clock and I didn't notice any clipping - with "clean" above 10 I still notice some clipping but much less than before, although I play pretty aggressively and my bass has pretty hot output...

I wish there were two buttons on this pedal. Kinda sucks having two in one if you can only use one at a time.
I don't know that, at least with this specific pedal. With the Carbon Copy there's no problem doing that.
I think it's time Way Huge starts to fix this headroom problem, it's becoming a little bit embarassing in my opinion.
I agree but there would be some setbacks with it, read the last post in this thread.
Who says there is a headroom problem, maybe the pedal is working exactly as intended. They have sold a large number of pork loins and most people are happy with them. Maybe it just doesn’t work with your setup, not every pedal work in every situation.
The headroom/clipping problem is real, everybody knows that (including Way Huge). The fact that this problem doesn't seem to affect your setup makes both you and me happy, but it's there.
You say that many people are happy with their units? I believe that, but there's also a number of people (here and on other forums) who reported headroom/clipping problem with the same identical pedal. Coincidence? I don't think so.
I've seen the same identical scenario years ago when me and other users reported headroom/clipping problems with both the Carbon Copy and Aqua Puss. At first, people were really pissed (with us, not the pedal builder!) and started saying that it wasn't true, that we were trying to bash on a product "we just didn't like". I spent my money on those pedals, I absolutely loved the tones I got with those pedals, but the problem was there and I felt the need to share my thoughts with other users.
After some time people quit being pissed (with us, again) and started to actually understand the problem experimenting with signal chain and other stuff we suggested and I'm sure most of them are running their Carbon Copy at 18v.
If the problem isn't there, why you're running your pedal at 18v when it says "9v" on the enclosure?
Why people is trying to run THIS PEDAL at 18v?

That’s kind of the way Tripps designs his pedals. Do you think he doesn’t know how to get more headroom out of a circuit if he wants it. The pork loin has been out for 10 years if Tripps felt the circuit wasn’t right I’m sure he would have made changes by now. It’s works the way it’s intended same with the carbon copy and the aqua puss, if they don’t work with your set up then I’m sorry, like I said not every pedal works with every setup. Feel free to design your own circuit and build your own pedals, I’m sure people that want more clean headroom will love your products.
Don‘t want to put more fuel on this conversation but in my opinion: If it’s a drive pedal for bass and it doesn‘t work with the most basic passive Jazz Bass... then it‘s not for me.

With all the folks asking if it will work at 18v, has anyone contacted the manufacturer to ask the question?
Well...I will answer my own question...
I ran it at 18v for about an hour without any issues while I compared it to the original Pork Loin.
I found the P+P to be brighter and gnarlier than the PL. Even with playing with the internal trim pots.
I could get them to sound close to each other but there was always a noticeable difference that had me preferring the PL.
The PL was warmer and had the ability to be subtler which I like. It is also easier to adjust the internal pots without a screwdriver and even provides a handy original factory setting sticker. The P+P does not.

The Volume knob seems to be really touchy, meaning unity is found at 8:00 and is easily knocked out. I see that I can adjust the "OD Output" and "Fuzz Output" with the internal pots, but will this give me more adjustability with the volume knob and will this adversely impact the tone I'm getting at unity?

I'm up to get a PP. Just to be sure before buying it, this clipping thing appears only on full clean sound? If i give it a little drive or fuzz, it disappears?
I don't have this pedal, but the clipping on pedals usually is the result of internal lack of headroom. It means that the pedal can't take a certain amount of signal/gain going through it, so it clips. It shouldn't depend on the "quality" of the signal (octaved, distorted, modulated, delayed) but on the quantity. I'm sure that a lot of bottom end and/or high frequencies can trigger the clipping more easily because of how those frequencies hit the pedal. If you're using something like a heavy/gated fuzz or a bit crusher you won't notice the clipping that much because the signal is already degraded or compressed.
Yeah, if you are looking for a good old distorted sound, this won't be a problem.

For clean sound enhancement i have a VT bass DI at the of my board, therefore i don't think i would use it as a clean boost. I would like to replace my ODB3, for a warmer, less harsh overdrive.
The other options was:
B3K v2 - it was too metal (which is totally good, but i play in a jazz/rock setting at the moment, so imo it wont fit
)EHX bass soul food + bass big muff nano - not sure about the quality
EHX Hot Wax - based on youtube reviews, the sound character of the P&P is better with more bass
