Way huge Pork and Pickle

I did bought a Pork&Pickle two days ago, and I do regret it. I've tried the Russian Pickle for a week prior to ordering the Pork&Pickle (I thought I was making a good move), and I'm having all issues other folks are claiming about. I've took some pictures of mine because it seems to have escaped all quality control! 20180612_212218.jpg 20180612_211152.jpg 20180612_210625.jpg 20180612_211242.jpg 20180612_210755.jpg 20180612_211841.jpg I don't know if every pedal have 1/4" port misaligned, but I'm pretty sure that the blend knob is not blending enough, volume is way to high and difficult to set. It's a very expensive pedal in Canada, it's a shame for a first bass pedal from a company that is having experience in the music industry. I wouldn't bash on the company but on this particular product definitely. Very Great sound at the base doe, but forget about blending.

It looks like that pedal was thrown around for the connections to be loose and the circuit board to be at an angle like that. I have a lot of way huge pedals most I bought new but some I bought used and haven’t seen any like that one. As far as the volume that’s just how some of the Way Huge pedals are, sounds like it’s got the volume from the Pork Loin because it’s a very loud pedal and in my experience the Russian Pickle is not so loud.

I assure you that is a brand new pedal and I'm meticulous with my gear. Those pics where taken 3hrs after I bought it to send them to Dunlop. Ok for the loud volume I can cope, but I found it weird that the noise level I increasing as I turn the tone knob down and volume level drop significantly as I turn the tone knob to the maximum..usually I get the opposite with noise level.

I retried it after this previous writing just to be 110% sure of what I advance, I guess/hope it's only my built on a Friday afternoon tired employee want to go out pedal of them problem. It's not stable, every knob seems to mess up every other level, it's too much inconsistent to be usable...I'm very experienced with gear (24years) and I know what I'm doing (before you're trying to prove me wrong).
I'm returning it anyway, and let you know when I tried a other one (same model, hopefully built a Tuesday morning)

I wasn’t saying is not brand new just that somebody handled it rough somewhere along the way it seems. I’ve opened up tons of Dunlop products and never seen anything as bad as this pedal.

I ran it at 18v for about an hour without any issues while I compared it to the original Pork Loin.

I found the P+P to be brighter and gnarlier than the PL. Even with playing with the internal trim pots.

I could get them to sound close to each other but there was always a noticeable difference that had me preferring the PL.

The PL was warmer and had the ability to be subtler which I like. It is also easier to adjust the internal pots without a screwdriver and even provides a handy original factory setting sticker. The P+P does not.

Did you try it on the Pickle setting at all?

Ok I've got an answer from Dunlop. I should fix the unaligned 1/4" Jacks myself and for the volume it could be normal like this. For the blend I'll have to A/B test in the store were they're ordering a new one.

The Russian Pickle and Green Russian Muff both keep plenty of low end. I think they sound great with no blend.

It seems evident to me that the assembler received a flawed enclosure or, most probably, Dunlop received an entire bad batch of enclosures. Why I think that? Because the assembler decided to consciously adapt/mount the PCB regardless the evident asymmetry of the box. That's why all the pedal is completely f****d up, both externally and internally.
You don't do something like that with just one bad enclosure. You reject it and replace with another, right? How much can cost a raw enclosure for a big company like Dunlop? I'd say pretty much nothing. But with an entire batch of bad enclosures things can change and something extreme is most probably going to happen, sooner or later.
If I'm right, we'll see more of these posts. I hope I'm wrong, this would be dishonourable for Dunlop.

So why not just return it then?

That circuit board looks like it's been damaged but there's definitely something wrong with those input jacks. Half-assed job at best.

I've been buying Dunlop Way Huge pedals since 2012 and their products have always been top notch quality. Looks like skipping the Pork and Pickle might've been a good call (already have a Pork Loin and a few pickles)
