I'm up to get a PP. Just to be sure before buying it, this clipping thing appears only on full clean sound? If i give it a little drive or fuzz, it disappears?
Yeah, if you are looking for a good old distorted sound, this won't be a problem.
The "clean" signal from the blend is not intended to be purely clean. I did notice some clipping with it, but I assumed in listening that it was intentional to make the clean signal blend more naturally with the dirt circuit. It didn't sound bad to me on its own either.So, is the headroom issue inherently always there? Or, are the headroom issues only audible if trying to use this pedal as a clean boost? I was confused by the clean signal 100% comments....
Also - can anyone else directly compare the Pork & Pickle to one of these that I own and familiar with?? DOD Carcosa, Tech21 Bass Boost Fuzz, MXR El Grande.
That makes sense about helping it blend better... that's one part of the MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe that I never could bond with, I felt like my clean and dirty were always fighting over the front seat & they never mixed/melted/sounded like one happy signal.The "clean" signal from the blend is not intended to be purely clean. I'm going off Youtube demos only for the BBF and El Grande, but the BBF sounded closest to the Pickle side of the three, at least in terms of EQ response. The distortion from the Pickle is smoother than the BBF.
Can someone confirm that the internal "mix" controls the loudness of each effect? I'm assuming it's intended to make the flip from overdrive to fuzz easier without volume drops/spikes. Or, am I wrong in that assumption?
Anyone else using/commenting on this pedal? I'm very interested, but this thread seems to have gone very cold....

Four internal trim pots.
- FUZZ OUTPUT trimpot adjusts mix of fuzz signal
- CURVE trimpot fine-tunes corner frequencies of OD signal
- PRESENCE trimpot tweaks high end of OD signal
- OVERDRIVE OUTPUT trimpot adjusts mix of OD signal

The clean blend on the outside goes from 100% effect counter clockwise to clean blended clockwise. They allow you to further mold the sound you want.weird... I never would have guessed that.
so on a demo i saw someone said that full clockwise was 60/40 (clean/dirty) or maybe even 50/50 (clean/dirty). So, these pots can change value? I thought they were master volume controls so you could flip the toggle from drive to fuzz and not have crazy volume spikes...
Did you check internal knobs? I’m sure lots of stuff could be messed up depending on how they’re set.After (finally) testing the Pork Loin clean line for distortion (powered with 9V), I am puzzled how the same circuit can be marketed as bass fx. There is no "soft clip" in that sound, it is not even a fuzz, it just sounds horrible.
So nice to hear that. Are you running it on 18V, does the clean "channel" get distorted?
I'm running it at 9v. When running it "clean" it will break up some if I hit hard. I assume this is the "clipping issue" guys complain about. I tend to run it after the compressor which mitigates such clipping and I only notice it when played through headphones at home. Through the rig I can't say I ever noticed it.
