Way to go JimmyM!

As a personal note - thank you for doing this endorsement. A person does not have to be rich or famous to make a difference in this world of ours. I've long said that Jimmy is deserving of one because of his unwavering loyalty to both your brand and to the ranks of his fellow players.

Well said.

Plus he is a fantastic player. Jimmy could make **** sound like angel cake. Just listen to his comparison clips - his ability to control his tone and volume through a bass riff in precisely the same way - track after track is amazing to me. If I ever grow up I want to play just like Jimmy.

The fact that a man of his abilities - with so refined an ear and feel for the instrument chooses to use Ampeg is a BFD by my lights and the company's recognition of this speaks well of the folks currently running the joint.

Now if they give Greenboy a call and commission a low weight - high output - high fidelity cab design to go under Jimmy's new amp... well **** the bed... I might just go back to playing through their gear like I used ta did for 30 years.

:bassist:

Wow!!!

After all these years they could at LEAST give him a free amp or something...

I mean, who else was as supportive and apologetic for Ampeg when their stock was worth virtually pennies and they shamelessly started making crap in Vietnam and China? WHO else? NO ONE!!!

For Jimmy to have championed Ampeg through their most recent period of downgrading, he stands alone!

Jimmy is hands-down one of the major reasons that Ampeg even SURVIVED the last couple years...

When people's Vietnampegs were exploding...when MDF cabs were coming apart...when tolex was separating from new amps due to low cost water-based Chinese glue...when MicroVR's couldn't drive two of their own cabs...WHO was standing alone to blindly champion Ampeg??!???

JIMMY!!!

Give this man a free amp. NOW.

You can't BUY that kind of brand support. Jimmy's the man.
Yeah, I'm no stranger to sarcasm, dude.

Blindly champion Ampeg my butt. I don't blindly champion anyone at any time ever, including Ampeg. Not that I need to explain myself to you or anyone else, but there were times a few years ago where I was extremely critical of how Ampeg was run. But that was a whole different regime of people in charge back then, and the people in charge now are way improved from the old regime, and so are the products.

If you choose not to believe that the quality is back at Ampeg, that's your choice which you are free to make. But know this and know it well...I won't ever tell anyone that I like something just to try to get an endorsement. I went over 30 years playing music professionally without a single endorsement and didn't care. Life is too short for me to ever use gear I don't like just because it was free or reduced price. If I tell you I like something, it's because I believe it to be good stuff, and if you don't believe me, then you have my personal invitation to take a flying leap.

Anyway, to the rest of you, I continue to give thanks for your nice words. It's really unbelievable that so many of you took time out to say such nice things for the past couple days, especially when it comes to my playing, which I've always considered pretty meat-and-potatoes compared to many, including many of you. And especially when I can be a bit of a cranky-ass crackpot at times ;)

And not to worry...they have been real sweethearts. I know you guys are kidding around a little, but they're doing just fine by me. They don't need to book me a photo shoot with Will Lee's wife or anything ;)

Don't sweat it Jimmy (I know you won't). There is always someone who really doesn't understand what the point is, nor takes the time to maybe understand prior to typing a response.
I've seen you come down hard on Ampeg a number of times for, well, dumb stuff.
I don't recall you just being a lemming standing there and being "all is great" when it may not have been. You have called things out in a pretty straight forward way. For Ampeg and other companies.

That's what makes you so loveable!
But please, no ads with Jimmy in them.....you want a good looking face associated with them......:D

Yeah Jimmy. The one thing I have noticed in your responses on TB is you are always direct, honest and respectful in what you say. As you can see due to your demeanor you have gained a lot of respect from others. Your responses have me looking at Ampeg again for the first time in a few years. I must agree there is a significant improvement in their products. Being not only a fellow Floridian but also Central Florida I will have to come out and see you play sometime.
Congrats to you, it certainly is well deserved.

the jimmym i know and love. well put.

sorry i'm late to the party, congrats!

Nothing wrong with being meat-and-potatoes. That's a pretty filling meal, really.

Go, bro. And keep the cranky-ass crackpot coming; it's always refreshing.

And for the record -- Jimmy's been very hard on Ampeg when they did drop the ball. Who knows, he may have been instrumental in bringing about their Renaissance?

Anyway, more power to you, man. Maybe they'll sponsor you for a promotional tour to the great downunder??

Jeff, you're obviously confusing my deal with Bootsy's ;) Besides, we don't pay for the backline rentals...we pass it onto the promoter. And more often than not these days, I get my SVT rig, so it's all good.
