WBO 2022: Löwenbäss

Well, I got the planer all rigged up to straighten my lams. They're somewhere in the ballpark of 3/32 or so out of true. I should have between 13/16 and 7/8 thickness left after planing.
I need to build a better setup with a height adjustable deck for the router. This was thrown together quickly just to do a few specific tasks on the last project, but I need a full time rig for doing everything from fingerboards to necks to full body thicknesses.
Hopefully this doesn't curl up any more after I shave it down.

I ended up with a hair under 13/16. 20.5mm or so.
These are the 2 big outer lams. Hopefully they're thick enough or I'll have to make it a 3 string.

I snapped the neck on the foamarleaux V2.
Should I make a new one or try to repair it?
I'm afraid it won't be the same if I try to fix it.

You should definitely try to fix it. After watching Derek over at Big D Guitars fix that snapped Les Paul headstock, anything is possible!

I let you weirdo taper people talk me into it. I already had the planing setup out and didn't feel like building a jig for the table saw, so I did this.
I may jack it up another 1/16 and taper it a bit more, not sure yet. I wanna glue this up tonight so I can true up the whole blank in the morning.

Looks like I have to. This is way too close to the sides and not enough wenge. The strips are 3/8. I'll taper 3/8 down to 1/4 and see where that leaves me.

How's the total width at the heel end? I'd go way thinner on those maple strips, like down to 3/16 or 1/8. I like the look of strips that have big differences in size vs strips that are close to each other in size, if that makes sense...

I'm good at the heel end. I'll try a 3/8 to 1/4 taper and go from there.
I can do more taper and/or make them thinner just by adding a washer under the one side of the aluminum bar and adjusting the router height.

It makes sense to me. And I like the idea too. An almost all wenge neck with just little stripes of maple, right?

Not sure how it happened, but one of the maple strips ended up a little trapezoidal. Not that big of a deal. Just throw them back in the jig and take another 16th off.
I know a lot of material will come off when it's carved, but I threw the blank on the scale just out of curiosity. It weighs more than the complete little guitar.

That scale's display makes elegant use of the fact that 22 lbs = 10 kilograms.

Okay, enough of this tapering horse pucky.
Time to glue this up and move on to body parts. This gives me roughly 5/16 of wenge from the maple to the edge at the nut. I'm calling it good.
