When I was 10 or 11, I always saw that the bass player was laid back and didn't care whether or not he/she got interviewed after every show. I just knew that the bass player knew how to keep the guitar player in line. Nobody ever realizes, but the Drummer and the Bassist are the most important members in a band. Without them, there would be no rhythm, and people would be off. Bass players are like metronomes. No one recognizes their job, but that doesn't mean they aren't important.

I write a ton of stuff, do tons of promotion, hook up shows, find gear, and am generally awesome in every way. I'm even good at stroking my ego. I reckon good bassists hardly get noticed when they do their job properly.

People have an innate tendency to complain...so in my analysis, when the bassline is right, and there's nothing to complain about, then all is good.
