We got bumped for.....Pitbull?

So you're theory is that this is all a matter of mating behavior?

Interesting... Makes more sense then anything to do with actual music!

I was actually thinking of it as anti-mating behavior, but you might have something there.

From my experience, there's about 1 female for every 25 males at a Metal show. And 75% of the time, the female is there with her boyfriend. So, when there's a limited supply of females, compared to an limitless supply of males, "mating behavior" has to take on a extreme form in order to get the attention of the few there.

But on the opposite end, with the decreased hope of getting any mating activity, the tendency for bad behavior increases. There's no-one of the fairer sex to mitigate the situation, and because of the situation, very few of the fairer sex will go to one of these shows. And without the fairer sex at these shows, there isn't an environment that can serve as a learning ground for practicing pre-mating rituals.

Who knows. All I know is I got tired of the sexual frustration of playing Metal, and now I play Taylor Swift.

Are you suggesting that male posturing at metal shows/gigs is actually latent homo-erotic posturing, rather like men in a gym/locker-room/war-zone?? Intriguing...

You should try playing metal out in continental Europe. Britain and Ireland suffer from that same problem as you're talking about, but christ, when you get out on the rest of the continent, the ratio of men to women changes quite a bit, particularly in the scandanavian countries.....and the women who show up tend to have a thing for musicians....and the Irish accent.

Once again, I'm a jerk for doing that. I admit this. He "had it coming" because he didn't play his part, which was incredibly easy. I learned my lesson there, I'm never booing again.

Here i have to give you your props, very few men admit when they are wrong, and you have openly apologized for booing a fellow musician and for that i commend you. Hopefully your next gig turns out better for you, the smoking weed thing that is on you, we are all grown men and make our own decisions and have to live with them. Perhaps next time you can make friends with the Bass Player and let him know where YOUR band plays next and he can check out your bands bass player and they can maybe get together to get some practice in and learn that bass line correctly, being nice in this world is always cool.

The discussion becomes even more interesting.

Strength, although it is valued by women, tends to have a higher currency value among men than women. Whereas, nurturing tends to be a higher value currency for women, but a lower one for males. Even a girl with SLAYER tatooed across her forehead will probably think a dad playing with his baby daughter to be cute.

Though, I don't think it's a homo-erotic thing. I contribute it more to cluelessness and a lack of maturity. You know the world as you know yourself, and when you are younger, even moreso. So as a guy, if you value toughness, bravado, posturing, etc. you assume females do to. If you devalue nurturing, relationships, positive communication, etc. you assume females do too. And that's where the frustration lies. Once guys figure out that females think differently and learn that what you think is real cool may turn them off, they begin the steps toward positive mating behavior.

OP here gives metal bands a bad name. Thanks for letting me know never to play a show with you guys.

You are probably correct, but I'm gonna bet that I'd still get more action playing ABBA over Gorogoth in Sweden.

I know in Ireland, that'd be the case for sure. ;)
