Wearing hats while playing; yes or no?

I rarely where hats and never wear them on stage. I have never played with anyone who wore a hat on stage. I think most hats look ridiculous and they look unprofessional onstage.

It was at the Louisville Palace theater. A competition between UofL Greek houses. Pretty sweet gig. About 3000 people there.

Did they have the strippers in the dorm too like the recruits?

All part of the show...ball caps outdoors, preferably with the name or logo of the bar and a fedora for nighttime indoors, shirt and tie too.

I used to wear beanies all the time during my 1st band's gigs. Took a 2 year break/band broke up. THen for the 1st show after that break with a new act, I wore a baseball cap. I rocked it off and decided never to wear coverings again. I now haul way more gear than I ever used to. It's one less thing to worry about getting left behind.

Do you wear a hat while playing?. The right hat on the right person looks great. I personally can’t stand anything on my head, but do sometimes wonder what would be a cool hat to wear.
I’ve always liked the look of a bowler hat like Stan Laurel wore, but I’m not going to shell out that kind of dough if I was too embarrassed to wear it. Not to mention it would have to be the right sort of band/gig.
My hair’s gone on permanent vacation , so if I’m outdoors in the summer I have no choice but to wear a ball cap to keep from frying.

A hat (usually a fedora) has been a part of my daily wardrobe for 30+ years.
However, I usually only wear a hat while playing when the gig is outdoors.

I just recently started wearing hats, thanks to a couple gigs at Goorin Bros. Hat Co. They pay us in hats. This isn't the best picture, but at a recent gig (Not the one pictured), I was most definitely the sharpest dressed band member. I was also the one who was most flirted with.

there’s an unwritten rule, only one guy in the band can be hat-guy or shaved-head guy. Else it gets real weird, real quick.

My guitar player also sports some mighty fine lids.

As I'm in my 60s now and thin on top, I think, particularly when I'm playing country that I look better in a hat.

With the thick gray beard I have kind of a mad trapper thing going.
