Hats, never. Last hat I owned and wore was a red Moriarty with a Snoopy on the side, knitted by Mrs. Moriarty herself. So it's been a very long time since I wore a hat.

I look goofy by default, more so when hatted. So I typically eschew head coverings.

A mini fedora seems to offend the least, but is almost unbearingly cliche!

I get really hot on stage, so I usually don't have the opportunity. But I always love to play with the giant wool toque my wife made me: it helps keep my glasses on my head and my hair out of my mouth when singing.

Heck yes. My Porsche, Infiniti, Saab, BMW or Iowa Hawkeyes baseball caps. Whenever I can.
However, 95% of the time I'm playing in church. So 95% of the time, I'm not wearing a hat while playing.

5. is the dorkiest looking member

No hats - God gave me a good looking head; if he was ashamed of his creation, he would have hid it with hair.

Do you wear a hat while playing?. The right hat on the right person looks great. I personally can’t stand anything on my head, but do sometimes wonder what would be a cool hat to wear.
I’ve always liked the look of a bowler hat like Stan Laurel wore, but I’m not going to shell out that kind of dough if I was too embarrassed to wear it. Not to mention it would have to be the right sort of band/gig.
My hair’s gone on permanent vacation , so if I’m outdoors in the summer I have no choice but to wear a ball cap to keep from frying.

Not for me personally as I like my mohawk, but 2 of the 3 members in my country trio wear cowboy hats. I agree that a good hat can be a very good look.

As for the ball cap...I understand the utility and practicality of a ball cap and maybe even it's necessity depending on the weather. However, I have yet to see a single performer wearing a ball cap in a rock or country setting that made me think "That's a great look!"

Absolutely ALWAYS! When the band is doing our regular-type gigs, it's brightly colored beanies / berets. If we're the blues band, it's a porkpie.
