Weekend warrior PA set up thread.. what are you using?

I got my DZR12s on friday, have 2 gigs on them already, they are very nice and a huge improvement on my Turbosound IQ12s, highs are crisper, mids clearer, I also got one of the DXS15XLF subs, but I am waiting on the second before I start gigging them.

The only annoying this is the Speaker covers for the DZR12s, which they had in stock when i placed my order, are now on back order for 6-8 weeks, apparently by the time they entered my order, someone else had scooped them.
Congrats on the DZR12's. The Gator speaker totes are good if they fit your speakers.

I have recently added Bose FH1 speakers for my tops. These are a line array style with a 12" for mids and multiple 2" for highs. I also now have two QSC K12 subs.

I got a chance to use these tops and one sub this weekend. Four piece band with E-Drums. Wow what a nice sound. I pan the vocals and guitar to just the tops. The bass and drums I leave going to both. Normally I would have just sent the bass and kick to the sub and tops but I only had a mono out from the drums. First set the drummers floor tome as way to loud but during the break I had him drop them and pinch up his snare.

Again for fast readers, I send the bass and kick to the tops and the sub.

Really nice sound then.

I got the 2nd Sub this week, looking forward to having the full system out this weekend, so far the DZRs have been fantastic with my Turbosound Subs.

You’re talking minimal numbers here. For a physics problem… sure, time delay. For our application on that day… not gonna make a difference.

It’s one of those things that you would have had to be there. Crowd was predominately around our side in the shade with a few out front in the sun.
At that point, you do what you can.
I won't even admit here the unconventional things I do pertaining to Sound, lol... :D

We had one of those and I hated it. Nothing wrong with the gear but for mixing from stage, having to use a laptop or tablet is far more fiddly and less intuitive than the physical knobs on a traditional mixer.

That's one thing I like about my PreSonus StudioLive- the "fat channel" digital processing replaces any rack gear, but the rest works just like an analog mixer.

And damn they're going cheap nowadays used. :)

Which series of digital mixer has more useful recall of scenes/mixes/whatever their nomenclature is?

Let's say I play in three bands. Can I save have groups/banks of scenes/mixes/presets based on each band, and within each group, have presets for that band for a given venue?
  • Bank/Group A: cover band
    • cover band - rehearsals
    • Cover band - biker bar
    • cover band - pool hall
  • Bank/Group A: Celtic band
    • celtic band - rehearsals
    • pub 1
    • pub 2
    • pub 17
  • Bank/Group C: shoegaze
    • shoegaze - rehearsals
    • shoegaze - brewpub
    • etc
Basically if I want to be my own personal traveling sound man, which digital mixer is for me? The rackmount Soundcraft and Midas units interest me as well as the various Studio Live consoles.

the Xr/MR and the UI series can all handle this easily.
