San Francisco is different.
You get people flying in from all over the world for some lifestyle events.
Mostly it's transplants that have a different perspective on how they want to behave in public.
That can be an issue.
I couldn't go to the library as a kid bc NAMBLA was setup in the library a block away from my parent's building.

You will walk past full on group sex in broad daylight in front for your house if you are unlucky enough to live on Folsom St.

Clubs are better regulated, but I did have to go down to the Cat Club bc some dude was all German with my girl.
My buddies will take security work when they're off-duty, and they mainly break up open drug use and adult activity outside designated areas.

Bands shouldn't have an issue bc they're main room.

I mean if it works out then that's a whole circuit to pull in a stream of income and fans.

It's no worse than going to a Raider game wearing 9ers colors.

The last band I played in a band as a "full time musician" was this wild Soulca trio. It was Steel drums, Congos and me on this cheap a$$ fretless Kramer Duke. The band absolutely smoked, and for me as the bassist, NO RULES!!!! The other guys were so great that I couldn't find things that didn't work. (And I tried)
But back on topic, people just went very sexual. At our regular club, people would do a grinding congo line out the front door, around the corner to the side door, back in and repeat. I remember a couple private pool parties where everyone wore bathing suits, except for when they decided to bang on the spot. And any old spot would do. I'd smile and play MaryAnne as some people went at it doggy on the other side of the hedge in front of me. It was something I haven't seen before or since, but I can't say I regret seeing it :)

My guess is that this will end up being a fun gig with an interesting focus on the audience rather than the band, so you’ll effectively be background music. I’ve known a few people into that stuff and they’ve all been pretty understanding that not everyone understands or related to their kinks, so they had a very “live and let live” attitude about it.

If the promoters allow it, you could have a very interesting Gig Report for us the week after this event! I’d be willing to bet that photography will only be allowed in designated areas though.

Have fun! It’ll definitely be a night full of memories!

Sounds like a fun gig. I used to hang out with a lot of fetish peeps back in my misspent youth, don’t treat them like they’re circus freaks and you’ll have a good experience. And like a couple others said, don’t go snapping pictures without consent from everyone in the shot. Some folks like to keep their kink side on the down low, especially these days since Twitter/Facebook shaming is a thing.

It’s an excuse for hot women to wear less than the usual lingerie.

Had a friend waxing on Haight St that was doing all sorts of cool rush jobs for EE.

OP should rename his band “Helmut and the Ballgags” for special events.

I used to know a girl that was into that scene. She took me to a club that had a BDSM/Fetish themed night a few times. You'll see some interesting things, some you won't be able to unsee. Everyone was always cool though, and very accepting of the fact that you may not be into it.

I'll bet it should be a fun gig.
