Wenge Neck Club

I'm looking to buy this lovely "wenge neck" Warwick Fortress One. It looks like it needs some TLC, but it plays sweet! No issues.

Because of the wear on the body I'm thinking of getting it refinished in pearl white & changing all the pickups & hardware to gold Warwick items.

Or.......

Keep it "as is" but change the hardware & pickups to gold Warwick items?

Or.......

Just keep it "as is?"

Thoughts?

Wait until you see my Fortress One after it's refinish, new hardware and pickups. Keeping it all strictly Warwick parts too. Watch this space......

Yes !

So it is originals passives pickups and electronic.

That’s cool, because the neck pickup is placed like a P-bass , so it can sound more or less like a nice P-bass with a worm woody Wenge touch.

I haven’t found any information about the electronic, but I think there is a tone for each pickup / volum / neck bridge mix.

I just changed the pickups and the pickguard on my wenge neck home-made p-bass. I just need to work out what colour knobs to put on. Any suggestions?

Looking forward to trying out the Geezers. The DiMarzio Relentless was a bit too much for my ears.

There are some guys in the states who make some really nice knobs.

There was one company called D cline design that I recall. Seen lots of pics but haven’t pulled the trigger on a set.
Thanks. I'll check them out. I know Warwick has some nice sets. Be interesting to compare the look and price. The shipping to New Zealand will probably be the big expense! Lol.

The chrome will suffice for now....

Well, seems I showed up too late, but I would suggest black with abalone tops to echo the neck dots. Could also get creative and paint the knobs cream to match the pickup shells, still with the abalone tops.

Search "Abalone Guitar Knobs" on the big A.

I guess it's time for me to get a number in this club, @HowieD72!

Black Parts Precision w/ Warmoth wenge neck (rosewood fingerboard and vintage spec nickel frets). Mystery black body likely made of alder or possibly pine, JBE pickup, Schaller roller bridge, licensed Hipshot Ultralight tuners, custom cut "Ray Ban" pickguard by Chandler's Pickguard Planet, Fender stainless steel flatwound strings, pro fret dress, setup, etc by my luthier, and it sounds amazing.

I gotta stop buying custom pickguards for this bass, lol. I've now had three Chandler pickguards made but it's had four pickguards overall since it had a tort one when I got it. Then came the Chandler "Ray Ban" (previously posted pictures). Then came Chandler "TAFKAP tort," shown here:

And I finally landed on Chandler's new color, "Cosmic Dust," which is by far my favorite for this bass, and one of my favorite pickguard colors of all time. I wish you could see the holographic sparkles in the pictures. This pattern looks even better in person because the holographic sparkles = *chef's kiss* The brown swirls in the Cosmic Dust pattern also look nice with the warm brown of the wenge/rosewood neck:

Finally! It's 98% finished. It just needs gold neck screws, gold pickup screws, gold input jack (all on order) and a PROPER Gold bridge. The current one is a rose gold. (I really don't know how Warwick advertise them as GOLD, and they are ROSE GOLD). Paint job isn't perfect, but pretty good for $148 USD. Pearl White with gold fleck.
