I'm the band leader, lead singer and bassist in a Classic Rock band. Despite being the band leader, I am easily the worst musician in the band. Whenever a bandmate asks me about an occasional missed note I just smile and say 'hey we can always hire a bassist and split 5 ways instead of 4'. No one ever asks anymore

One time I hit a gooner during a bass intro,,, I stopped and proclaimed 'I'm taking this bass back first thing in the morning' Then I started the song over while everyone was laughing.

We always just laugh them off.

I use to play a lot of notes, these days I don't play near as many, I don't miss the other ones.

I sing close harmony with two other singers in a P&W band. I sing pretty much every word of every song (with a few lines dropped out here and there to emphasize certain other voices) while also playing a fretless. Every once in a while I miss a note if my brain happens to be leaning more toward the vocals and less toward the bass. Conversely, every once in a while I miss a word if my brain is leaning more toward the bass and less toward the vocals.
We play 7 songs on a typical Sunday service. Let's say on average there are 4 Sundays in a month- so 28 songs. I'd say I miss 5 notes a month and maybe 7 words a month (that I can detect anyway). No big deal usually- just wait for the next note to come around.
