What a P Bass Sounds Like...

Maybe they had one in the studio for recording. Great photos!
Since a few posts prior have stated The Ramones & The Clash (which are my all time idols for both punk music, & picking up the precision bass). here are some more examples of pbass tones i dig

This whole record featured classic P bass tone. This bass solo stands out.
The P Bass is not a "one trick pony". Example: Listen to John Entwistle play a P Bass on Live At Leeds!!!!!!!!!
There are a lot of variables with a P Bass. Plucking location. Finger pluck. Pick pluck. Strings. Eqing. Amps. Over-drive.
It's not fair to use Motown or Motown types of examples to describe a P Bass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a fun read through all of this. So many variations and tonal varieties. But at the end of the day the post that really helped sum it up for me was the one with the "money" bass track isolated and with the band.
Regardless of what a P Bass sounds like to you, it always sounds better with the full band than it does by itself. That's the whole reason I've played P so often in my life. I've never really been blown away by the way any of them have sounded on their own, but I'll be damned if they don't just freaking work with the full band.
