What a P Bass Sounds Like...

Ahh, but it is vintage, very ‘78-‘82 sounding, the sort of thing that The Cars took to the bank for about five years. However, it seems like these kids are drawing from the more underground bands of that time directly, the kind of stuff that Ocasek and company were lifting from and smoothing out for US radio consumption. The vocal style trickling down from Bowie, maybe Bryan Ferry, with perhaps a bit of David Byrne.
That first video’s vocals struck me as a less frantic Stan Lee from The Dickies, with a bit of Russ Mael of Sparks, and those guys go back to the early 70’s, influencing Queen, and a number of acts from later in the decade and beyond.
