Right, Kirk, build this and you might survive.

Why does everyone NEED to be offended ALL the time in the 21st Century?
Because Reverb and other folks are exact-frickin'-ly like the tabloids. Stir the pot and let it splatter everywhere. It's the American Way. Too bad.
I saw this today on Reverb and was offended at THEM posting. Now I'm exactly like everyone else. Bllleeeeccccchhhhh.

Well... it's a good thing Mr Hammett is finally whipping out his soldering iron and building a series of guitar effects for and by actual musicians.

Now we will finally hear something good from his guitar!
Since, apparently, all the effects he has ever used were built by electronic hacks that don't know dip about what a guitarist needs for his sound. He must have been pooping in our ears all these years. Who knew?

Thank you Mr. Hammett.
Another long stride down the road to musical innovation.

Oh, and I realize it's been a long time since Jerry Springer last aired, but we all love to hate.
It's in our nature.
Or don't you ever read history, news, presidential debates, etc...
Reverb is cashing in on that.
As are we, right now.
Feels good.
Oh yeah.
Hate him.

HATE HIM!!!

I have no idea who builds Catalinbread or Earthquaker Devices. I know who Kirk Hammett is. In no way do these facts determine which pedal I'm going to buy. A bunch of wannabe rock stars who now built pedals. Stop your whining! Kirk is a great player and nice guy.

Sorry buddy, but Kirk is wrong on this one, it's not about being offended, it's about being wrong and misrepresenting an entire community.

Pedal manufacturers run by musicians:
Fuzzrocious
Old Blood Noise Endeavors
Smallsound/Bigsound
Dwarfcraft
Salvage Custom
Earthquaker Devices
Mantic Effects
Fredric Effects
Greer Amps
Twin Stomp
Caroline Guitar Company
Catalinbread
Wampler
T1M
Fulltone
Analogman
Abominable Electronics
Mr. Black
The list goes on...

And these people actually make their pedals, not just slap their name on them.
And I can't name one of them and don't recognize the company names. How many records did they sell?

Does anyone honestly think Kirk himself is somehow hunkering down behind the glow of an oscilloscope soldering these things himself and working up schematics? Oh, so he's just consulting on them, if anything? And putting his name on them? How is that ANY different than what Dunlop, Boss, etc do? Derp. So much derp.

It's not about those big companies. It's about the boutique and "mom & pop" builders.
Most started, run, and staffed by musicians.

How can it be irrelevant when it is the point of the post? How many pedal manufactures are accomplished guitarists of Kirk's stature?
Music status is beside the point. He didn't say anything about "professional" or "accomplished" guitarists. He just made an uninformed blanket statement that in and of itself was untrue.

And I agree. Kirk is full of himself. #1: He isn't actually making these. Nor is he doing anything that any other pedal maker would do with an artist that endorses them. #2: Even if he was actually designing them and soldering the darn things himself, there are countless others that have been doing that for decades, and they are guitarists too. It's either ignorance, or just plain old cynical marketing junk. Just because it happens all over the industry doesn't mean it smells any better coming from Kirk.

"What a sad little man..."

Looks like a little projection coming from the OP...
Projection? If only...I'm 6 ft. tall and laughing...at all of this furor. If I hadn't posted this happenstance(it really wasn't 'news'), somebody else would. I don't dislike Metallica, but at the same time they really haven't affected my life. Any human interest stories about KH that have filtered down to me has left me with the impression that he's a bit of a knob. Keeping in mind that talking trash about the lump sum of all other pedal makers before throwing his(or at least the team of circuit benders that he hired)product out to the market(and subsequent reviews)has a certain risk of making him look like a douche, perhaps he should have though this one out a little more. But by doing so, he opens himself up for criticism. Maybe they'll be as successful as the Digitech Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix pedals.
