What are you GASsing for?

Nothing. My GAS bubble has popped.

I might have a shot at getting an old Fender P-Bass from someone that hasen't opened the case in decades...but that dosen't count for GAS.

All of my gear purchases are done. Have been since last year. Nothing else needed.

I'm GASing for my first pedal, and since the better half spend $250 on stuff for our fish tanks this weekend I think I'm justified! :)

The Zoom B3 pedal looks nice, and I was also looking online at the DigiTech BP 90 last night. I'm thinking it would be best to start with an all in one type model, but really don't know enough about pedals yet to feel comfortable buying one in the immediate future.

What is a good pedal for a fairly new bass player to GAS for? No band or gigs for me yet so it's just little ol' me plucking around in the basement! Thank you for your suggestions!

I had the same issue with the micro chorus. good on bass, but a bit of a volume boost when engaged. I sent it to MXR and they adjusted the out put a little. Still had a boost, but it was significantly reduced. Only slight. Great people at MXR, they adjusted the chorus for free, gave me a new knob, and it was a used effect!

Anyway, my gas list hasn't changed in a bit, still filled with expensive stuff...

For "cheap but decent quality multi-effects that will introduce you to the world of effects" I think the general consensus around TalkBass is some sort of Zoom, in particular the B3 (bigger, more expensive, but probably easier to program, more effects, can use 3 effects at once) or the MS-60B (smaller, cheaper, need to spend more time programming, fewer available effects but can use up to 4 at once).

The MS-60B is also by Zoom. If there was a poll, these two units (the B3 and MS-60B) would win by a lot, I'm sure. In terms of processing power and sound quality, they are generally regarded as ahead of older Zoom units like the B2.1. I don't even own these units (although I own a different Zoom unit for guitar), I'm just trying to tell you what I think the general TalkBass consensus is.

I also own a Boss GT-10B. It's MUCH larger and more expensive ($500, I got mine used for $250). I don't think it's quite as well regarded as the smaller Zoom units in terms of sound quality, but it is extremely powerful in terms of parameter control and flexibility.

Another possibility is the Line6 M series, from the relatively cheap M5 to the more expensive M9 and M13.

I am currently gassing for an ebs metaldrive bass distortion pedal. I would like to buy this pedal for my live set-up. also I have been thinking about purchasing a rocktron reaction chorus pedal as a back-up to my danelectro cool cat cc-1 chorus pedal. I do feel that rocktron might be under-rated, so I was thinking about purchasing the rocktron reaction chorus pedal and see how it sounds on bass. I'll bet it's sounds totally awesome on bass.

Current list:

Modulation: GASsing for a Modfactor something fierce; would consider the H9 but you can find Modfactors for half the price, you don't need to add algorithms, and I already have a Pitchfactor

Dirt: As always, the list is huge---I would not want ALL of these and I am already pretty happy with my dirt, but I could see adding or upgrading a pedal or two.
OD: Amptweaker Bass TightDrive
Distortion: Empress Heavy
Fuzz: Darkglass Duality, IE Oxide, SS/BS TAFM, Amptweaker Bass TightFuzz
Swiss Army Knife: Dr. Scientist The Elements, Source Audio Bass OFD

Other: Strongly considering joining in on the Beat Buddy Kickstarter...if it ever happens.

Synth: Pretty happy right now, but I'll be interested if/when the Source Audio one comes out. IE SubT and TWA Great Divide 2.0 sound pretty sweet though.

Compression: No immediate GAS, though some day I would consider comparing an Empress against my MXR

Board and Accessories: Finally took the plunge for a dedicated power supply. Now all future funds can go toward actual pedals! :bassist:
