For me lately it's mainly basses, I'm pretty happy with my rig. I wouldn't mind having a greenboy cab but it's not a priority.

Just ordered a new musicman stingray 5 today(had one about 7-8 years ago and missed it) but yeah that'll be it for the next couple months unless i make some good money on the next purge. Other basses I'm planning on getting in the future; sterling by musicman ray35 fretless(i think they make one lol) and an acoustic.

I like effects but I think i'm over gasing for effects. There's tons of effects that are cool but for me it really boils down to what i actually use. Like i have a new bass whammy which i love, it sounds great and is a lot of fun to noodle around with, but I've had it since it first shipped, my band has been writing new material and it hasn't Found its way into a single song yet. So for effects in the future i may try different dirt boxes, delays, compressors. and reverbs. those are the main effects i actually use. But it'll be more of a looking for upgrades instead of looking for totally new sounds.

I gotta say, as far as GAS, I got it real, real bad for (believe it or not) an Epiphone Limited Edition Ripper Reissue. They made these 2006-2008 and I owned two of them (one natural maple, one black) and while I have divested myself of more gear than I can remember over the years, parting with those Rippers is one of the few regrets.

Epiphone made earlier Ripper reissues with a single pickup and these were okay basses. But the ones they came out with 2006-2008 with the P/J pup configuration were (IMO) sweeeet.

The ONLY problem I had with these Epi Rippers was trying to find a case for them.

I don't generally get GAS that bad, but I WANT.

I still, on a weekly basis, search CL and eBay and elsewhere trying to find one for sale. Every now and then I track one down, but it's always either more than I can pay or it's someone on the other side of the country who refuses to ship...

Recently I've been thinking about purchasing a yamaha trbx305. I've recently purchased a yamaha trbx174 in a dark metallic blue finish and I think it's a pretty cool looking bass. I like the color and the sound quality. first yamaha bass I own in 7 years. anywho, I would like to go to a guitar center or a sam ash to try out the yamaha trbx305. I've read some good reviews and checked out many youtube clips of this bass and I do like what I hear. If I get a chance to go out there, I would like to try out that bass.

I've got all my basses covered at the moment ;) but would still like a Carvin P/J in their moss green flame top. I just LOOOOVE that color. No rush though. I would also like a new 4x10 and a relatively inexpensive all tube head to get a little different sound from my Hartke amp. I really don't need either the bass or the amp, but wouldn't mind one of either either.

Actually, what I could really use (not just what I want) is a midi floor keyboard controller so I could play some synth with my feet. I end up playing keys and bass a lot so that would be a huge help and I already have a bunch of synths.

So with my nasty GAS I has had a realistic look at functionality & playability I wanted so bad the new ibanez SR656, and I've been going to my local GC and playing a couple of Ibby sixers spending some time getting around the neck for the past few weeks and the road block playing on the lower register even if I pull the bass to the right to lessen my reach, with the wide neck it causes me pain, I have four broken discs in my neck. but playing on a fiver no problem. so pain is the deal breaker.So now with my nasty GAS I'm GASing for the new Ibanez SE 655

I've actually got GAS pretty well under control, but when I do GAS it's definitely for basses (not amps or effects), and always other brands that I don't already own*. The current short list for If I Won The Lottery consists of
- an original Greg Curbow-built XT-33 6-string
- an early 1990s Modulus Graphite Quantum-5 TBX 5-string
- a medium-scale small-body Alembic Series I 4-string (any year)
- and a bigger house so I can have a room to store them all without having to put them away in their cases at night.


*edit: well, I do currently own one Modulus already, so I guess that's not completely true.
