What are you reading Chapter 4

I will finish it this week! Family drama (grandmother broke her hip and bumped her head) got in the way this week. By the time I hit the sack I was out all week. I did get a little further and maintain what I said before.

You know how some people give a speech to thousands of people and it's like they are talking to their wife or buddy in a coffee shop? That's this book. It was written for the masses but it's "just Joe trying to help a pal". And I mean that in a good way.

(The grandmother who fell is the one quoted in my sig. And she's doing much better.)
Best wishes to Granny.....:)

The Wrecking Crew - Kent Hartman

The beginning of the sixties rock hits and the studio players who played on the majority of these West Coast hits. Histories of the kids who would become the mega songwriters for the rock hits of the early 60s - late 70s. Recording techniques and lots of studio and industry stories.
Quick read. Easy style. A chronological tale of pop rocks golden years.

I've read this a couple of times...just re-reading it again right now...and having fun listening to the songs mentioned as I read (thanks, YouTube!)
I've found it a good read and would recommend it.
Apparently Carol Kaye disagrees...

Currently reading Genesis 1 - 11 A New Old Translation for Readers, Scholars, and Translators.

It is indeed a new translation, done by a law prof and a scholar of biblical Hebrew. I find it interesting because they talk about old and new English translations and why they did this one, and then give the translation. There's another section that dives into the things that go into making a translation, and then another section where they discuss phrase by phrase the choices they made and why, and how these compare or contrast with those in other translations.

I'm always interested in reading/seeing about how things are made, so this is cool. As a bonus, it's a nice-feeling paperback, not like something that I found at a yard sale.

I've had the tee shirt - slabs of bush junk screaming for the bullet - for many years but that doesn't prove anything. So now I'm imbibing the book, just for a laugh - it does have pictures :)

The shout goes summit like,
An irreverent look at the 10 years of sports broadcasting by H G and Roy, from their beginnings on Triple J to their more celebrated stay on the ABC's 3L0 (774) . This collection of stories and anecdotes traverses both the sporting arenas of the world, including AFL and Rugby League Football, with more social events such as art shows and the Royal Family. Many of the tales are written in the first person and contain slang expressions. Illustrations are by Reg Mombassa.
