I have not read those, but Dan Simmoms wrote one of my favorite books of all time, Hyperion. IMO, one of the few truly _great_ sci-fi novels, a genre where it's very easy to be mediocre.

I am currently reading the Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla. It took me forever to get through IV as I kept putting it down and coming back to it.

I'm a big fan of Roald Dahl. My favorite is the dude that plays poker for fingers. Is that a golf club he's holding on the cover there? Makes me like him even more.

Yes it is a golf club. I'm becoming a fan myself. I had only known of his children's books. Anything you would care to recommend for me to check out next?

Wolves of the Calla is excellent. Probably one of my favorite in the series. Has a lot faster pace than some of the others. VI and VII are beasts with their combined page count, but good. VII is memorable, to say the least.

I started the Stuart Wood's Stone Barrington character series.
I am now through 'Cold Paradise'.

I threw in a Dennis Lehane book, 'Gone baby Gone' for spice
and added George Pelecanos 'Drama City' for a little extra
grit.

Love this book series. Initially it attracted me because it's set in Cincinnati, which is close to where I live.

I'm currently re-reading the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, which I highly recommend if you like vampires, were-animals, zombies or just a great horror story. Currently on this one:

And now I have the sequel: "Touch Me, I'm Sick: the 52 creepiest love songs you've ever heard"

It's still pretty damn hilarious. My favorite things are some of the chapter titles, like: 'Love Is Just Another Word For I Want To Eat Your Liver' and 'I'm Not Bitter, But Why Won't You Just Die, You Pig' and 'Those Freaking Butterfly Songs'.

Check this guy out. You won't regret it.

Bought and read "I Hate Myself And Want To Die : the 52 most depressing songs you've ever heard" based on your post. Great read.

Looking forward to getting and reading this new one.

I'm currently reading this one. Andrew McCarthy was one of the lead attorneys in the US Attorneys office in the prosecution of the Abdull Rahman (the Blind Sheik), in connection with the 93 WTC bombing. It is a fascinating look at history and a manual on how not to deal with terrorism.

This is one a just finished, a great read.
