Good read. Cross is a so-so writer, but ya can't beat the story!

Interesting his childhood home hasn't been taken better care of. Would think they'd park it in front of the EXP Museum in Seattle or something. Use it for a smoking parlor.

this week, i am reading:

cat's cradle by vonnegut

so far. it's only monday, and i am going back through all the vonnegut stuff i haven't read in a while, and i plan to pick up the stuff i haven't yet read. after that, it's back to the dune series, starting with the first. i haven't read any of the dune books for a year now, i am jonesin'.

My latest epic tale begins,

Steve is a scientist who works in the rainforset sudying the penises and vaginas of tiny insects...

I know, brilian, isn't it? Worship me......

I wrote a book once. It was a triffic book. It was nearly eight pages long. It was about this pirate who was a famous detective. And I drew the pictures. If you like I'll let you read it. I bet it was a lot more excitin' than the book you've lost. 'Specially the bit in the spaceship where the dinosaur comes out and fights with the cowboys. I bet it'd cheer you up, my book.

But you have to guess who wrote it, originally. I'll give full points if you can just guess who is saying the stuff I quoted.

It's one of my favorite books. I've bought several copies and worn them out. I think this is my fourth copy.

Two Trains Running by Andrew Vachss
Homebody by Orson Scott Card
Lord of the Silver Bow by David Gemmell
And another book in which a young Shakespeare and a fellow actor get involved in intrique and solve a mystery. Right now I forget the title and author, but it was pretty good.
If you like hard boiled crime/detective type fiction, you really have to read some Andrew Vachss. Especially early books in his Burke series.
If you are into fantasy/heroic fiction you probably already know about David Gemmell. If you don't, check any of his books out.

I've been reading the Dark Tower series by Stephan King. For school I am reading a biography of Bach

+1 The Dark Tower series is freakin awesome! Such a great mixture of genres, and characters.

Also Fear and Loathing, it's just fun to read about stuff I would never have the balls (stupidity?) to do.

Really good series. I have enjoyed it immensely. This is the fourth so far.

Same here! Excellent series. There's talk of HBO possibly making a series for the books, each season being one book. If there's anyone who would do it right, it's HBO

I highly recommend this series to anyone interested in the epic-fantasy type of literature.
