What Band Does This CL Ad Belong To?

A coda to #45, now that it has been solved: The ad was written for Joe's current tour, and would be hypothetical from about a year or two ago, as opposed to Joe's early career. Graham Maby has been his longtime bassist, and his sister was Joe's first wife. Graham's wife has had severe medical issues, preventing him from being on the road for long stretches. He's a great guy (I've had conversations, and an ongoing e-mail dialogue). Had I not been so involved with my own doings, and been able to arrange for an audition, I might have been the one to answer my hypothetical ad. My personal bass style would be Maby-meets-Entwistle, with a dash of 80's Flea.
Joe Jackson's music is something worthy of checking out, for the sheer breadth of the styles that it spans. One is bound to find something likeable, regardless of their tastes. Even thrashmetalheads dig it; Anthrax's cover of "Got the Time" is still much enjoyed by fans of that kind of music (tho' the original is also quite thrashy, for 1978). If you like it hard and fast, "Friday" is another track to revel in. Of course, my preference is for the original Joe Jackson Band of 1978-81, and the 2003 reunion & tour, and his piano trio of the mid-'00s. His latest album is a collection of Duke Ellington covers given the Joe treatment (which is to say, "dramatic, alternate-style arrangements"). Joe has also done a few other covers of notable artists, with the same approach (Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well," and a few Steely Dan numbers being among them). Joe, with Graham along with him, is a HUGE influence on me, with Graham and Geddy being the two living bassists that I am most often compared to (albeit not in that order). If you have not really explored Joe's music, I highly recommend doing so. It's bound to broaden your tastes, influences, and, probably, make you strive to be a more well-rounded musician.

Manchester based post-punk band looking to add an additional member after the unexpected death of our lead singer. Our guitarist will take over lead vocals, so we're looking for a keyboardist/guitarist to fill out our sound, and help us explore adding some synth/dance songs to our repertoire.
