I have a hankering for another Jazz bass, either a Mary Kay type finish, a cherryburst, or a natural finish (love those GC FSR models). Probably a maple fingerboard as I have a rosewood board Jazz already (the Mary Kay is really what I want).

I got rid of everything I had that wasn't a burst or natural finish
once I saw how crazy thick the poly was on my Fenders, I wanted no more of that

the "why bother with anything else" just seemed kind of elitist to me

I have a spare Jazz neck (rosewood with pearloid blocks and cream binding) in my workshop. I also have a spare MM pickup. Now I am just looking for a nice piece of wood for the body. And 3-6 months of free time...
