Harris as has been repeatedly stated on many bass forums and the Maiden forums only uses two fingers.

I'm officially adding Alain Caron to the BASS GODS list!

I just saw the Mike Stern Band live in concert, and Caron completely blew me away! His playing, anyway. He grooved all night on his gorgeous F-Bass, his solos were tasteful yet shreddy, he doubled Stern on some absolutely crazy riffs, and him and the drummer had an AMAZING pocket going!

Other than that, he has the usual bass player tendency to stand absolutely still for the entire set, barely moving except to go offstage, and he just looked like a total nerd (not that that's a bad thing, in a jazz band:p )

Definitely a monster player, though not someone I'd idolize, just too boring to watch.

Anyone else see Caron live before? What did y'all think?:cool:

Im influenced by:

Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, Flea, Justin Chancellor and others... Different influences for the different styles i like to play.

I try not to be influenced by fieldy... :hmm: although saying 'i don't want to be like that person' means they have been an influence. Fieldy has influenced me to not be like him :)

This to me is a funny question. I have never played anything but bass. I have been playing for 26 years now. I never looked at bass player as influences as their playing. Playing never caught my attention. Freddy Mercury of Queen caught my attention. John Lennon caught my attention. These are musicians that played, but also had direction and goals. Hugh attitudes (Rock and Roll attitudes) but did not play bass. As I got older, certain bassist stood out like Flea, Sting and even Paul McCartney and a dozen more, but still not really for their bass lines, but their musicianship onstage and the vibe they present.
It seems strange to me (I do think I am pretty strange in this regard) that I know and play all the same notes as they do and when called for, just like they do, but it is the fun on stage they have that I have always looked at.
