What did you learn today?

I learned (again) that the four joints between the bottom of my bathroom sink and the drain in the wall can be counted on to spout at least one leak every time I am forced to mess with them.

This time it's the drain plug in the tailpiece leaking. I'll replace it, as this is a repeat problem. Then watch - one of the joints on either end of the P-trap will leak, or the connection to the wall will leak.

Another in a long list of why I hate plumbing.

I prefer indoor plumbing as long as I don't have to work on it. I'm too cheap to hire a professional unless I really have to.

I hear ya.

The best cursing/ranting/foaming streak I ever went on was plumbing related.

It's probably not good when you're actually yelling at the toilet and calling it a $^& stupid piece of efuhaefuhfah etc. .

Plumbing is not my best or favorite task. Replaced the sink drain today...sink is slightly miscast but made it work. Two hours of chasing leaks and crawling in and out of the bathroom vanity. So far so good...will check my work often for the next few days.

Maybe you knew this, but I had always figured the exteriors of the Addams' TV house were just a miniature, or a series of paintings. Turns out there was more to it than that:

House History

Dressed for shooting exteriors of the pilot:

The house is long gone now, but they kept the old street lamp, albeit reworked into an abbreviated form:

I've got another obscure landmark to go look up if/when I'm ever out that way again.
