What do you call your BASS?

I call them by model names/numbers because I have multiples by one brand. I don't understand the thing behind naming inanimate objects.

Not that it's a big deal, my little Ibby is Marco, after one half of the Hietala brothers. (If I was a guitard, I'd have named it Zac..I'm pitiful)

I've only named 2 basses. The others I usually call them by their "given name" (in some version):

• Gibson Les Paul 5 String I call my "Paul".
• Spector BOB-5 I call "BOB"
• Fender 5 sting Jazz Bass I call my "Jazz bass"
• Squier Classic Vibe 50's P-Bass I call my "Squier"
• Gretsch Billy-Bo bass I call "Billy"
• Fender P-bass with a 5 string Fender Jazz neck I named "FrankenFender" because it's "pieced together (including PUPS). I call it "Frank" for short.
• Fender CIJ 1951 Precision Bass Reissue I named "Jessie"

My main performance basses are Jessie, Billy, Frank and my Squier. It's not a coincidence that there is a "gun fighter" reference to the bases I've named.

I call my Fender P-bass "the Fender", the Rickenbacker "the Ric" and the fretless is.. well, "the fretless".

Tried to name my first bass when I was younger but nothing ever stuck. Also I call my white BMW "Klaus" because that's what my friend was calling it in a camp voice when the catalytic converter died while going up a tall hill:

"Ooooh ja, Klaus! You can do eet!"

Yeah, it started as a band joke between my drummer and me naming our stuff. Now we are in different gigs, but I still have "Angel" and "Shirley", by Lakland girlfriends. Yes, my wife is jealous...

Being an overly creative person, I spend quality time with each bass for weeks before bestowing a name. Only when I feel the essence and nature of each individual instrument has been subtly and cleverly captured and reflected in some sort of ethereal, transcendent way do I christen each with the moniker by which they will henceforth be known.

'The P'
'The Fretless'

My wife took it upon herself to name my Rickenbacker "Orville". She's quite the comedienne and proud of herself for that one.
