What does Comp Rate and Count Grade do?

Hi, my new bass head has different settings to my last and i can't figure out what they do. I apologise for my little knowledge as i'm quite new.

Hi, those terms have no meaning. Well, "comp rate" could, but it needs some context. Could you post more information, such as what amp is it? If you can post a picture of the controls, and/or a link to the manual, that will help too.

Does comp rate have to do with an outboard compressor?

The amp is a Warwick profet 3.3. the settings include; Compressor, Comp Rate, Contour, Cont Grade (apologies for saying "Count", i read it wrong), Bass, Low Mid, High Mid, Treble, Deep, Bright and Mute.

Here's the manual. They should be called compression level and contour level. They simply control the amount of compression or contour. Contour is a mid/cut eq tool. Compression is a dynamics reduction tool.
