My nickname irl is Rictor, and I play in a band called M-66 (myspace.com/m66punk) so by "punk rock band last name laws" 66 is my last name, so you get Rictor66.
nothing to do with music, sorry to say. It's just the same as my yahoo email ID, I use it to avoid confusing myself.
For those who want the long story, I study medieval history and "hrodbert" is the original form of the name of St. Rupert of Salzburg, who arrived there in 696. He's in my research so it's easy for me to remember.
Let's see- Sort of a redundancy that has special significance if you are a Christian where, in the case of the the rapture (the shout and trumpet mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4), it loses it's redundancy and becomes a true "final requiem" (the dead in Christ shall rise). And you could even apply it to the 7th trumpet in Revelation but that's a longer story... It was never intended to stand out in a "Bible thumping" sort of way, it was just always sort of neat for me and I thought it was also sort of poetic that Mozart died while composing his Requiem Mass in D...
It has since gained other personal significance to me as I've gone along...
Heh, between the ages of 15 - 24, I was a backyard/Pro Wrestler. Not the beefed up guys in tights, but the quick luchador backflippy style. Since I was the guy that always did the Barbwire, Chair Shots, Ladder Jumps ,flaming tables, and etc, etc. I was givin the name Sane (read In-Sane). So after all us wrestling friends found music was a lot less painful, and we could make a lot more money doin it, we slowly made the transition. I still have the name.... and the scars though
(Best I got for a local wrestling show... was a hotdog and coke.)
I play mostly 5 strings basses and vstrings was the best way I could boast about it when I opened my first Yahoo! account.
"5strings" had been already taken, so I settled for Roman numeral V.
Obsessed with numerology and specifically 3 and 23... f short for FX = 23 FX a practice amp, cabinet (guitar), and pedal company Im 1/2 of trying to get off the ground, slowly I might add....
Most sites have a few Jools' who have preceded me, but none have had 4000 of 'em before I pitched in, so Jools4001 is a safe bet....I never claimed original thinking as a forte
I went to a Christian university and played percussion on the worship team and in studio jazz ensemble. Everybody started calling me "Bongo Boy", and the name sortof stuck.
I had a problem with the name at first -- that is until this stunning, leggy, blue-eyed, blond with that girl-next-door charm walked up to me one day in the cafeteria and said "hey, you're the bongo boy!".
After that, I was okay with it.
And it doesn't hurt that I married her three years later
I added "LA" to it since that's where I live and "bongoboy" is usually taken.
I was "Preacher" on the original Neil Young mailing list, the "Rust list". I left the list about 10 years ago, still am a fan though. Yesterday I played bass with the covers band project a couple of guys at work formed, and we did "Cinnamon Girl".
