What an interesting thread! Here's my story...

Several years ago, I was a professional bounty hunter. I had (against all regulations) followed one of my targets across international borders, all the way to an opium den nestled in a bustling neighborhood in west Hong Kong.. Little did I know that I, too, was being followed...

As I approached my subject to apprehend him, I was ambushed by a gang of 13 motorcycle ninjas - with machine guns! They meant business, and I had already punched the clock.

Time to retreat.

I hopped into the nearest taxi, ejecting the driver with one flick of my right elbow, and hastily took off into the night....

Maneuvering through heavy traffic in Hong Kong is dangerous in its own right. Add the drone from a baker's dozen of 750cc engines buzzing from every which way, and being peppered with bursts of automatic gunfire.. And, well, things start to get hairy in a hurry! I knew I had to hold on, but wouldn't be able to fend them off forever.

I needed help.

I called my contact at the consolate, he assured me that help would arrive soon. Armed help.

"How long?" I asked.
"10 minutes" he responded. "Maybe sooner."

Anything longer than 30 seconds is too long, I thought to myself... I had to find another way.

As we rapidly and recklessly approached the city centre, my life was suddenly of less priority. There were people here; women, children, women dressed as children... Motorcycle ninjas..

CRAP! Motorcycle Ninjas.. With machine guns, no less!
I forgot they were there for a second.. Hong Kong really is a beautiful city, you know?... *sigh*

As I was trying to compose a plan to rid myself of these pesky ninjas, I looked ahead and locked eyes with what I was sure would be my demise...

There, standing in the middle of the road, staring straight into my soul..... Was a puppy.
"You won't die on my watch, you prince of canines!" I yelled as I jerked the wheel violently to the left, swerving away from the young pup. The tires of the taxi squealed, as momentum broke the threshold of adhesion. I lost control. In spite of my best efforts, I could not tame the vehicle. Looking out the passenger front window of the taxi, I stared death in the face a second time, whom, for some reason, had taken on the shape of a busload of orphans... As I braced myself for impact, I let out the most epic prog rock scream never recorded.

Then sh*t got crazy...

The ground started to shake beneath my stolen taxi, the clouds were incinerated as the sky opened up and exploded. Something epic was happening here.

As my taxi skidded along it's path of death, mere inches away from impact with orphans (great band name, btw), I (stolen taxi and all) was lifted with a force so great, so instant, so perfectly in-time, I knew exactly what was happening. I was being rescued by a warrior. A warrior who has done battle before, no doubt...

Sure enough, I looked up to find myself held firmly in the clutches of a 100 foot tall Snowy Owl, with none other than Geddy Lee at the reins! I looked below just in time to see the motorcycle ninjas' heads implode as I was transported further out of harms way. I didn't get the bad guy, but at least I'm alive.

Yeah, they call me the Workin' Man...

Anyway, that's how I got this scar *points*

Wait.... What?
Seriously?
Aw crap...

Sorry, kids.. I thought this was the "Worst Gig Ever" thread...

My username is just my initials... That's all... Sorry to lead you all on like that... My bad :smug:

Well, NOT that I am any sort of god.
I went through a phase a few years back where I'd joke and tell people I was godly (implying greatness, not in the religious sense) but I say joke because I am nowhere near that cocky and/or confident.
I was making a new email address and I couldn't think of a name. Any choice that I tried had already been taken. Eventually I tried "rarisgod" (rar being my initials) and it worked, so I kept it. Since then, it flows nicely when I type it, so I never wanted to change it.

"Dave" is short for "David," which means "beloved" in Hebrew.

"Muscato" is a type of sweet dessert wine from Italy/Sicily. It comes from the Latin word musca, muscae (1st fem), which means "fly" (like the insect). The folk etymology is that the wine is named "Muscato" because flies like all the sugar in it (and so do people).
