Mine's a stage name, derived from a pre-war Lvov song. Before WWII, Lwów was a major Polish city with rich culture. Many street-songs were referring to a sort of local hooligans called "batyar". Antek Stalich was one of such guys, known for his romance with Crooked Manka, playing accordion, and always being ready to fight ;)

Playing Half-Life on a computer at a friend's house. Game got glitchy at one point and some character referred to Gordon Freeman at "Mr. F-f-f-f-f-f-utterman". Became an in-joke and started using it as a handle for everything since it's never taken.

My name is Richard, and my bandmates & close friends call me by my nickname, Dick. My guitarist started calling me Super Dick one night at practice after I played a Rush cover flawlessly the first time we ever tried it (Spirit of Radio), and the 2112 is in honor of the Rush album that inspired me to start playing bass almost 30 years ago.

not what I would have guessed

my last name is Samples (not made up) and my initials are D.T.

Umm...well it should be self explanatory right?! ;)

No just kidding. Back when I was new to this board and boards in general, I thought the whole 'handle names' thing was stupid, and oddly enough my real name and it's abbreviations was already taken so I couldn't use those. At that very same moment I was listening to Infectious Grooves, and Sarsippius flushes a toilet and says "damn kickin', now that's what I call caca de kick!".
Okay, so that was even more stupid handle name, but I really didn't think I was going to stick around here....that was about 11 years ago.

Hey guys, fairly new user here. Anyway, my account is named after the fictional rock band from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of books.

From Disaster Area - Hitchhikers:

"Disaster Area, a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones, are generally regarded as not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but also as being the loudest noise of any kind at all. Regular concert goers judge that the best sound balance is usually to be heard from within large concrete bunkers some thirty-seven miles away from the stage, whilst the musicians themselves play their instruments by remote control from within a heavily insulated spaceship which stays in orbit around the planet - or more frequently around a completely different planet."
