All my dogs have been (and will be) mutts from rescue centers. The current one is a Beagle/Dachsund cross. Noisy, but lovable.

Just about all purebreeds now have rescue organizations. All my bulldogs were rescues (or litter runts). My pit bull had been a street dog, less than a week from the chamber.

My local rescue has a young lurcher. He's a greyhound without the gracefulness, by the looks of him - big, angular, rough-coated lunk of a dog. He might not be too smart, either. But he is beyond handsome in a cute-puppy-face way and an I-might-eventually-grow-into-this-body way.

Wish I was at a stable enough point in my life that I could commit to another dog for ten years, but that ain't the way it is right now.
