what Effects can you not live without?

yes, i know this is a personal choice thing, thats why I am asking everyone on these forums their own personal choices. what Effects do you think are a must have for Bass? recommendations on pedals for said effect would be appreciated too, But im mostly looking to hear the opinions of the forums, weather its compression, or phasing, or pitching, etc, all opinions welcome, the more information I have the greater of a decision I can come to.

I prefer a compressor (enjoying the MXR Bass Comp right now), the Boss OC2, and a Green Russian Big Muff variant. Overdrive is also great, but I have a tube amp for that.

Tuner, Korg pitchblack tunes a B very well. Not the poly version it sucks. ( not really an effect but really important. )

overdrive, I use a Mooer green mile but OD can sound good with one rig and not another.

octave,(boss oc-2 is the only one I've tried but I like it a lot.

some type of tone shaping pedal that can control Mids. I like the sans amp bass driver when I don't use an amp and I use a mxr m80 when I do use an amp because it is more transparent. Although, I've found that with the blend knob on the sans amp it can sound good with an amp too.

In the past I would have said compression and fuzz too, but I don't care for comp any more and fuzz seems to only be useful when the guitarists leave room for it to shine.

My musical heart is still, to a large extent, rooted in the late 60's to early 80's, so compression, chorus or phase and an envelope filter are my things, although these days the application is far more subtle and selective than it was back then. Once upon a time the chorus was an 'always on' effect - these days maybe 10%. I've never really got on with dirt on bass but I do use overdrive with the Stick.

I need to have at least a little hair in my signal the vast majority of the time, and like to have compression too. So much so that I just got an Accountant to use as an always-on dirty comp.

Everything else is more like 'nice to have', but I find some sort of modulation fairly good to keep on the board a lot too.

I could probably live, even without a bass, if I had to, but it would be a rather poor life that I'd rather not would have to live.

I could play my bass perfectly fine through my amp too without any effects, but I would rather not.

Out of the effects I got: compressor, eq, od, phaser and an overkill distortion for noise making, the eq is the one I could do easiest without, as I only use it rarely to get a more soft and deep sound as opposed to my standard sound that is on the more mid rangy punchy side.

The compressor, as it helps to achieve the punchy sound I like and is always on, and the distortion, as I love making noise and feedback, are probably the effects I would miss the most.

I could live without my Meatsmoke preamp and my Cali76 TX-L compressor, but I'd really rather not. They are both on all the time while gigging. I did without the Meatsmoke one time to save myself some time on setup/breakdown and told myself afterwards I'd never do that again.

I also would hate to gig without my Spaceman Saturn V (aka the thickener), EWS Bass Mid Control (makes me cut through the mix without getting too loud) and [sfx] Micro Boost (to clean boost my entire signal to keep up with the rest of the band when the drummer and guitarist suddenly start cranking it up in the middle of the song).

I could probably even do without a tuner and use a phone app or tune to the guitar but that seems more difficult than having a small tuner on my board.

It would be hard to do certain songs without fuzz too.

Since getting it not too long go , I've grown rather fond of light OD.
Not saying I could not live without it, but that I'd miss it if I had to play without.(I'm also NOT using it all the time)

I'd go for some sort of overdrive or distortion, personally, but then again I play heavy metal.
Overdrive - JohnK Gamma Bass OD if you can, or a Joyo American on the cheap.
Distortion - TONS of options, would need to know more info to suggest what might work for you. I'd start with the aforementioned American (it covers a lot of territory) or the Joyo Ultimate Drive. They are both budget friendly and will cover a lot of ground. Now, there are better pedals out there, but these two should get you through most situations dirt-wise before really tailoring any suggestions to your specifics.
