I bought a monophonic synthesizer after I was asked to begin a band.
Before the synthesizer I only played a bit of harmonica, jaw harp and occasionally touched my parents old piano.

I got into bass guitar after someone gave me an old bass.
I also learned a bit of guitar around the same time. And started to play a fiddle.
Sometimes a bit of trying out the trumpet.

Wurlitzer electric piano & polyphonic synthesizer in home-jams.
There were drum kits, electric and acoustic guitars around that were played in jam sessions.

Tin whistle & bamboo flute.
Conga's.
Fretless bass.
Guitar.
Spent some days with a mandoline, and had a few try outs on double bass and cello.

Drums are the first instrument I've been serious about. I still play at jam sessions or for the occasionnal recording but no rehearsed live anymore.
Also "had to" play some percussion back in school, which has taught me quite a bit though that's not something I ever felt fully comfortable with.

Then I discovered bass and here I am.

Guitar - mostly fingerstyle, mostly for fun though I've gotten pretty decent.
Keys - did the classical piano thingy which wasn't for me and I recently got a 53-knob analog synth.
Vocals - just starting to realize I can do that and working with a great teacher

Stuff - harp, melodica, recorder, ukulele, like crap but sometimes it's enough to add just a bit of spice on top of the cake.

played lots of brass in high school, but I'd have to start all over again. Tuba was my first bass instrument and I'm still interested, just not in field formations!
voice - lots of baritone years ago. I can sing and play guitar, but have not yet started to sing while I play bass. I am planning on it though.

I had a recent 2 year foray into trumpet. However trumpet isn't so much an instrument as it is a lifestyle. IT was way too demanding in terms of practice regimen and endurance, had to let it go (for now).

And of course the usual: Guitar, keyboards.

Drums: have had the pleasure to win a "Corporate Battle of the Bands" while subbing on the skins

Guitar: Jimmy Nolen/Nile Rodgers are my guitar heroes. I refuse to solo. Had fun playing guitar in a reggae band (doubling bass-lines and playing the "chop")

I aspire to play my great-grandfathers violin and would love pick up a Surbahar Veena (a giant bass sitar- I'm a recovering new age hippy veda-phile).

I started on guitar years ago but primarily play bass. Wish I would have started young on piano.
My 19 year old son plays piano, guitar, bass, drums and mandolin. He is one of those people who can pick up an instrument and play it well in a matter of hours.

I play trumpet in a brass quintet as well as various pit orchestras for plays. I also double on trombone and euphonium. I have to confess i have more brass instruments than basses--Fender MP Jazz V, Fender Starcaster, and Squier Bass VI.

Drums first by a long shot - over 30 years and still gig regularly on them.

Bass is closing that gap quickly, though. I'm playing in my first band as a bass player now and have a few shows under my belt, so I'm just getting to where I'm comfortable calling myself a bass player. Best part is that I can practice in my apartment as much as I want, so I do - like a fiend.
