This hit the TB forum around 2pm on friday from a TBer in CA.......... by 230pm ,we had a agreement......by 9am the next morning,she was in my hands in GA,........"CT "no frills bass"...Tallk about a Quick GAS ATTACK !!! Thanks to all the TBers that PMed me and gave me a heads up on this CT.....:hyper:

The most serious GAS I ever had was for my MM StingRay5. I obsessed about it for over a year before I finally got one. The first day when I finally did get it, I remember waking up in the middle of the night, turning on the light and just staring at it for 15 minutes. Even now, I associate the strong glue smell of a new case with getting that bass and now I love that new case smell!

Fantastic story :D If you dont mind me asking, did you get the finish you had always GASsed for? I've wanted a Stingray5 for a long time now and every week I decide i want a different finish!

It's good to hear I'm not the only one so afflicted. I often play my Steinie in bed, so my brother jokes I sleep with her.

At the time ('93), I was hoping for either the transparent blueburst or natural with a black pickguard. What I really wanted was one with a maple fingerboard. When the local dealer received their shipment, there was only one with a maple board and it happened to be transparent white with a tort pickguard. I thought it was okay at the time and went with it anyway. Now I love the colour!

That bass never even hit the showroom floor. I had an acquaintance who worked at the store and called me right away when they got it. I went to the store right away to see it. It felt amazing (and still does). I put a deposit on it and then picked it up two days later. It was my first 5-string and even though it is not my main bass anymore, it still has a lot of sentimental value.

And speaking of that StingRay5, I was looking at it yesterday and noticed that the tort pickguard is shrinking and the corners are lifting(as they do). I ordered a replacement today: 5-ply black. It will give it a bit of a new look. If I don't like it, I can always get another tort guard.

I got hit with a double helping at work today after finding out I'm not going to be a father after all. hehehe. :ninja:
