What happened to bc rich

Hanser music group now owns B.C. Rich along with Traben, Michael Kelly, Kustom, and Powerwerks...

The real death of B.C.Rich happened in 1987 when Bernie licensed the company name out to Class Axe. From 87 to 93 they were complete crap. Bernie seized control back in 1993 and tried to salvage the brand...Grover Jackson even came aboard to help as Fender had bought out Jackson. Along came E.S.P in the wake and most of the metal players that had endorsed B.C.Rich jumped ship to E.S.P. In 99 Rico Sr. passed from a heart attack and in 2001 Junior turned the company over to Hanser.

Bernie Jr. has his own custom shop and ghost builds for a lot of people (Including Lita Ford) Hanser really hasn't put out a decent bass guitar since the Korean ST's and the Heritage Series with the exception of the Warlock Paolo Gregoletto Signature Bass.....the Newest Basses are complete crap.

Hanser even ran Traben into the ground....I have an American built, as well as a Korean built Traben and they are both top notch, once they switched production to Vietnam they went into the toilet!

Lol, I mean whatever but I bet he gets a LOT of strange looks from the crowd.

They probably got rid of those basses cause they aren't selling. There has been one black warlock bass in a local shop for almost 10 years now. I don't think they'll ever sell it and there are metal bands around. I played it once just to do it.

Personally, I didn't know they were still around. I figured they went the way of spandex, hairspray, makeup, and your sister's clothes.

Mostly I saw kids buying them back in those days, and playing the kind of music that we'd call hair metal now.

Played a couple of their guitars, and they were slick but not my style. Not then, and certainly not now.

I repeat:

BC Rich guitars & basses were never exclusive to Glam Metal!

Joe Perry has used a Mockingbird, as well Brad Whitford used an Eagle.

Stephen Stills has used a Bich.

Morbid Angel (not Glam) guitarist uses an Ironbird.

Chuck Schuldiner of Death (NOT Glam) used a Stealth.

Kerry King still uses a Warlock.

Saying that BC Rich is exclusive to Glam or Hair Metal is just not true. Just because Poison was using them, doesn't mean every Glam band was, and it also doesn't mean non Glam bands haven't use them.

David Ellefson is using a couple of BC Rich basses with Megadeth again, along with his signature Jackson's. I've seen it live, and actually preferred the sound. It cut through better, the Jackson's are way too scooped to be heard. Even though Ellefson probably sees it different.

Neal posted a disclaimer right after BC Rich announced that he was working for them again. Basically, Neal Moser Guitars is supplying the full circuits for instruments ordered through the BC Rich Custom Shop. Hanser jumped on that as an opportunity to announce he was back with BC Rich, which is not necessarily true, but good for their marketing.

BC Rich is getting a good treatment, same guys that provided the new EBMM Sub -line have taken over - this year's NAMM was only the beginning. Read (whole) thread here: Invalid Link Removed

I'm more of a BC Rich guitar fan, I've had a couple of the Korean ones and they were nice. I wouldn't mind a good, black 5 string Warlock though (see Derek Boyer's custom). :)

Great many of us are still not happy with lack of basses from BCR. I still am waiting and hopeful. Nothing new at Summer NAMM...word is that 2017 there are many things coming. Hope so. I'd like another Wave. I'll always search the used market, particularly USA NT basses, and I'd like an NJ as well. I'd like a brand new bass, but don't need an entry level model.

A new NJ is not going to be half a good as an original one. If you look around you can find them out there... that BC Rich Junkie Facebook page gives you a horribly distorted view of what older BC Richs are actually worth. I have three NT NJ Waves and never paid more than $500 for any of them.
