What I lost in the Thomas fire

I found so many pots and transformers from pedals. A big puddle of melted aluminum. Coils from pickups. The latches and rails from rack cases. Coils of strings. In a pile of rubble. Time to clear and scrape the lot ... its a total loss.

As I said in my post above:

"Anybody who has charred hillsides in this area around a home that survived or even around a lot on which they lost a home but on which they plan to rebuild should think about winter erosion control (laying down erosion netting, etc.) ASAP. A lot of the soil on which homes have been built in SoCal becomes very unstable when it is stripped of vegetation (as by fire) and then submitted to heavy rains. This looks like it will be a dry winter, but you never know. Better safe than sorry."

Unfortunately, this was a precient comment:

Southern California mudslides, flooding leave at least 8 dead in Montecito, highways closed

Be safe, down there!

I’m sitting in a Motel room in Santa Barbara tonight, unable to get home to my family because they are on the other side of a mud slide. I consider myself extremely lucky. None of us were hurt, and our house is fine. I was scheduled at work this morning at 4am, and the major mud slide was around this time. I must have just missed it by minutes if not seconds! Thankful to God for keeping us safe, and praying for those that were affected. Hug the ones you love. It could all change so fast.

I used to live in Ventura way back in the way back.

There were days I would come out of my house(Dads) and look up at Topatopa mountain above Ventura and say"Oh ...they're on fire again"
One shoe.......................

But the fires would never come down to the city.
Of course we all knew one day.......

Then after the fires come the mudslides.
The other shoe..........
