What I lost in the Thomas fire

Gather your wife and kids together and give them a hug and let them know you love them. Basses can be replaced, but your family can't. Sorry about your loss.
So sorry for your loss. I’m in Carp, and have had my one bass, board and rig I own, packed since Wednesday. I had the luxury of time, and it is looking like we will be fine. Your positivity is amazing, and I salute you! May God bless your new beginning, and best of luck to you neighbor. PM me if you need anything, even if it’s just a beer and some bass talk!

There is nothing I can write to make you feel better now. Only know that things will get better in time and this will just be a bad memory.
Sorry you lost so much. Glad you have your life and family. We live just on the edge of the evacuation zone for the Creek fire. When the lines were first drawn, the freeway closed down. I made it home from work and we packed 3 days of clothes and other personal items. My wife has a book collection and packed up a few bags of the more special ones. I packed up my basses and guitars. We were ready to go at a moment's notice. Thankfully, that notice didn't come for us. We watched a house burn down about a mile away. Heartbreaking.
I was just wondering about how you were making out with this fire, and I’m completely shell shocked by your post. So very sorry to hear of this!!!

You want to borrow my GB Shuttle 3.08T combo? Tiny 8” combo - but good for practicing. And I have full size cabs to go with it if you need, as it’s a 300 watt amp. My gear just sits around - so keep it as long as you need. Just let me know.
My son is 8 years old, and we have excess - not sure the age of your kids, but we might have stuff for them as well.

Thanks so much for the offer but I’m covered. I have a mesa d-800+ and powerhouse cabs in the practice space. And our rental is literally at capacity from the huge number of generous gifts of clothes and toys for the kids.
We live in Ojai. Had some lead-time, took two vehicles, and thus had 10 basses in an SUV along with music, hard-drives, computers, clothing, important docs, etc. Mandatory evacuation late Wednesday night. Just returned today and our house still stands. Others as we know weren't so fortunate. A muso friend left his house thinking he was far from danger and thus didn't take much...just some clothes and a computer. He and some others at the hotel we were all staying at got the terrible calls that their homes were lost. Fortunately no one was hurt or killed.
I’m in Carp, currently staring up at the burning hills above my home! Car is packed with everything we can fit (including all my gear!), and ready to leave at a moments notice! Prayers for everyone affected!

Sorry to hear this. Especially bummed that black Kallas ‘66 is gone. But I’m glad you and your family are safe. That’s all that matters.
Someone flew a drone over my street, and Pickles' neighbourhood.
My house is bottom left at 1:18. As you can see, this affects many, many homes in the area. We are both at ground zero. You'll see at the end of the video how the fire came over the hills in the back country.
Everything inside the walls is lost on every property. The city are planning on clearing all the slabs soon to mitigate any hazmat problems (lead, arsenic, asbestos, cadmium etc.).
230,500 acres, 15% contained, and spreading.
If you get the evacuation order, GO IMMEDIATELY. This is an unpredictable, fast, and indiscriminate fire.
My heart goes out to all in the fire zone.
