Recently my Ibanez PD-7 died. So now I need a new overdrive/distortion pedal. I was thinking of purchasing a new one, but I thought I should try something new. Does anyone have any recommendations?

You should try the "Obvious Search" pedal by ReadthefrontpageoftheforumTronics. They're surprisingly effective, and don't cost much.
Why do you need to use pedals? IMO it just covers up your lack of skill.
I think you should forget about buying overdrive pedals and distortion pedals and stick to using your fingers to achieve your distorted tone.

It's all nonsense. Learn how to actually play bass, not just a distorted, tuned-down guitar.

Wow! I rarely use pedals other than a tuner and your post even offends me! So you are saying those that do use pedals are doing so to cover a lack of skill? I hope you are wearing flame retardant underwear!
Let the roasting begin!To the OP. I like the Digitech Bad Monkey. Not a heavy distortion but I nice warm fat tube overdrive. Also very inexpensive.

As far as for the OP...
Since Zeibek/Music Electronix seems to be on unexplained hiatus (with many pissed off people
), I'd recommend against the GeminiDrive that I own. Other than that pedal, I was looking into the Aguilar Agro, the Way Huge Pork Loin, the Dredgetone Angler, and the MP/BJFE BBBOD.
These kinds of threads never go well tbh. All you typically get is everyone's preference, which you can read in all manner of other threads.
What would be better would be to describe the music you play and the sound you are looking for. Otherwise if you're not sure have a look on youtube to get a better idea.
